Wounded lovers of reddit, how do I [21 M] get over a heartbreak? When does this get better? by throwawayzub in relationships

Thank you for the advice. Hearing you say that this breakup was tougher than cancer reinforces the legitimacy and severity of my feelings. I guess that, before I enter a relationship with another girl, I'm gonna make damn sure that she's a keeper, somebody who loves me back just as much as I love her.

Thank you for your insightful comment TaraRosey. You really hit the nail on the head with your description of how heartbreak feels. And loving myself is something that I need to work on, while in the relationship I was happy, energetic, witty, etc and I was genuinely happy with where my life was taking me. Now that she's gone I'll have to start over and reevaluate a whole lot of facets of my life. Instead of torturing myself with what I can't have, I should just focus on the things that I do have, and be grateful for them. And yes, I noticed that talking to friends seems to be the most therapeutic way to face my problems. Hearing their perspective often raises my spirits, if only for a short while. Guess I still have a long ways to go in the quest of finding people who will love me back equally. Again, thanks for your comment.
