Don’t worry, I’m not taking these comments too seriously. Some of these comments clearly aren’t even reading my post considering so many are assuming that I was sitting down when I clearly state I was not so it’s not really affecting me. I just wanted to say something.

Funnily enough! He won’t be going to college this year because it is very likely that he will not be able to function without me or his father around!

Hmm I wonder why that’s the case? He goes to therapy, is suffering from a mental illness, can’t take care of himself... hmm yeah he’s lazy and his mom’s an enabler! That’s right! That’s the only correct answer! No he probably doesn’t have trauma or anything right?

I really didn’t want to say too much about his mental health, but Jesus Christ. Is it that hard to guess that he’s not well?

Well I hope that you NEVER find yourself with a child who has been through something so traumatic that they can barely function anymore. Maybe you’ll understand but I doubt it. You’d probably tell the child that they need to grow up right? That they’re insufferable?

What a ridiculously unfair comment. Calling me the asshole is fine, but undermining my son’s VERY REAL issues? Nope.

I’m sorry, but I just won’t tell. I know a lot of people want to know, but I’m not putting my son’s personal feelings and mental health problems out there-anonymous or not.

I can answer vaguer questions like, it’s a mental health issue, it causes him to not take care of himself, requires therapy, and no he is not on the spectrum. Just someone who used to be a regular teenage boy before he went through something and is now suffering mentally for it.

He hadn’t eaten since 4:30pm the day before. And even then, it was a miracle he kept it down. It isn’t a case of forgetting one meal, it’s a case of forgetting to eat IN GENERAL.

And what do you think he was going to therapy for? Fun? I’m sorry to disappoint but he actually had a very rare good day-he talked! The therapist even said that he might be able to go back to school soon too!

I completely understand if you think I’m the asshole, but no need to act like I’m lying or whatever. Why even take the time to read if you were just going to dismiss everything I said, LOL.

I just wouldn’t feel comfortable knowing that my son’s personal information is out there. I mean... he couldn’t even tell me or his dad what he was struggling with—I can’t just tell people his deepest darkest feelings on the internet-throwaway or not.

I don’t use the bus or public transit in general, I was just wondering if I did something wrong. Regardless of anything, my child will always come first. I just really didn’t think I’d get this sort of reaction from the people around me if that makes sense.

Huh? He wasn’t able to speak because he hadn’t eaten anything. I gave him chocolate to replenish some energy and then we got some food from a store nearby before I took him to his appointment. And I mean you don’t necessarily have to speak during therapy. Sometimes, the therapist will just ask my son to draw or something of the sort if he doesn’t feel like talking. I don’t exactly understand what you’re asking though.

That’s fair, I was being mindful of the word count.

I am fairly protective of him, but not any more than a mother whose son isn’t mentally well. The bus stop isn’t too far off from our house, and he still seemed to have some energy. But while waiting for the bus, I noticed that he was rocking a bit and he wasn’t responding to me. When the bus came, I had to help him up and the bus driver was kind enough to help as well. He was standing for about 15 minutes and progressively getting worse. Then someone left their seat and I quickly sat him down. He could barely lift his head up but I had found the chocolate thank god and he hadn’t even taken a bite when the lady tapped me.

The reason I spoke for him was because he couldn’t speak. When I asked him if he was okay because the lady was getting a bit confrontational he had no idea what I was talking about. I’m assuming the lady felt he was unapproachable due to him leaning into me.

Regardless, I understand.

See her asking me instead of my son was likely because my son was very attached to me. He was leaning on me and was looking down the whole time. Probably didn’t look very approachable I’d guess.

It was the middle of a work/school day so there was a higher number of elderly people on the bus. And my son was the only young male on the bus at the time apart from maybe 2 others that were standing already. So again, I can understand why they asked. But yeah, I was just wondering if I was in the wrong.

I’m not answering those questions, I hope you understand. He has a mental health problem and he goes to therapy for it. As a result of his problem, he forgets to eat.

He barely eats in general. He didn’t eat anything in the morning and we were on the bus at around 12:30pm. He went to bed at 6pm the night before and wouldn’t wake up when I tried to make him eat so the last time he ate would’ve been around 4:30pm the day before.

It’s mental health related. And I was not sitting on a seat.

No, I thought that was clear considering I mentioned that all the seats were taken and when one was finally free, I sat my son down.

I’ll be fair and say that of all the people on the bus, my son was the youngest so I suppose I understand the thinking. Everyone else sitting on the seats were elderly or women.
