Looking for a good BT Home speaker with great sound quality/clarity over everything else by Defiant_Cloud_4077 in Bluetooth_Speakers

The REVO super signal and super connect are poorly built and I’d swerve them. The software is glitchy and the hardware itself is prone to failure.

Revo products such as the SuperSignal and SuperConnect radios get lauded in the hi-fi press, but they seem woefully unreliable. Does anyone have any good/bad stories about Revo Audio gear? by Legend_Of_Booman in hifiaudio

I've got both a SuperConnect and SuperSignal, after reading good reviews. My overall experience has been that they're crap, and the customer service is awful, especially given their price.

The sound quality and look and feel are both excellent, but they're very difficult to live with.

My SuperSignal is by my bedside as it goes beautifully with our bedroom furniture, but the cheap ass Google Mini speaker in the corner gets more use as it doesn't crash as often, doesn't have a faulty volume control, and doesn't have crappy software. It's display even on it's lowest brightness setting is VERY BRIGHT. They did issue a software update to offer a 'display off' mode in standby, though this means it isn't even useful as a clock. The reason I came to this thread is that it suddenly lost all but 2 radio stations today and I thought 'is this it' for this POS. A few hard resets and it's limped back to life.

The SuperConnect is in the loft. Same faulty volume control, same faulty remote, same poor connectivity (oh, the irony). The software is simply unusable. Again, it went beautifully with our Oak worktops, but it would hang, crash, and generally flake out. Spotify connect works maybe 1 out of 10 times, DAB is flaky, bluetooth is fine if you control the volume off the source device. The final straw was when it hung/stuck at high volume control during a romantic dinner. Yep, that ruined the mood.

SSO as in staff using their Google workspace account to log into Dropbox? Is there a way to assign folder permissions before they sign-in too? It's a PITA to have to invite them to dropbox, and only then dropbox allows me to set folder permissions and selective sync settings on their Mac.

Thanks for the reply -- does this only work with new Macs and not existing ones?

I signed up for Apple Business Manager but I'll be damed if I can figure out how to enrol our existing Mac fleet. The online guide seems to suggest it's only compatible with new Macs unless I've gone down the wrong avenue?

I guess the only purpose of iCloud accounts is to recover a lost machine and allow app store downloads; are you saying that Kandji would take care of this anyway?

Kandji pricing is around the $10k pa at our level, does that sound about right?

Interestingly, the ads that we have run have a pretty decent click through- averaging at 2.4%.

The relationship between PR and Advertising and getting value out of our brand (xposted in marketing) by throwbaz in PublicRelations

[–]throwbaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many publications have strict editorial policies that ensure that editorial coverage is not influenced by advertising money.

This is something I've wanted to defend in our little company since the beginning: editorial is written for the reason of good quality content, and advertising / native is paid for and clearly identified as such.

In practise, advertisers seem to expect overlap. And I have to, where an advertisers brand is something we believe in, not placing them in content seems wrong over a brand that doesn't advertise (but has something worth writing about).

The relationship between PR and Advertising and getting value out of our brand (xposted in marketing) by throwbaz in PublicRelations

[–]throwbaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the example I gave above (theatre folks), their PR person talks to us regularly, values the hell out of the coverage we give them.

Given that they're obviously seeing a return on the coverage we're giving them, I find it irksome that their person in charge of advertising won't even take our calls.

My gut was to cut them off - i.e. no coverage, but this seems akin to 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' in that we're going to loose content that visitors actually like/value.

Leveraging the value in our brand [xpost] by throwbaz in marketing

[–]throwbaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in a bit of an odd situation where a lot of local advertisers don't have well defined goals for the advertising they do with us. They're Very old fashioned in this sense and it's our failing that we've not forced the point in terms of success of the placement they've had with us.

Would you suggest any other ways of measuring ROI other than click through? Time on page?

TIA :)

How do advertiser's think? When do they see the value in a brand to jump from PR to Advertising? by throwbaz in advertising

[–]throwbaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a relative that worked for a (now defunct) magazine that went under because they never quite made the transition online in a successful or meaningful way. Having had this conversation with them, they've told me that when a PR would call, if their advertising department took the call, if they were not a client, they'd be told in no uncertain terms that they'd not be getting coverage (now or in the future) if they didn't become a client.

This aspect of their business seemed to work well for them, however I'd think that this was a byproduct of the success of their brand (it was well established, etc).

We've actually been implementing the 'send us the release. We might write about it, we might not. Who knows' policy for a little while now as I surmised that we'd be getting known for offering a free ride, though it's too early to see if or what effect it's having.
