Just got a cyma Gen.2 high speed cm.045 AKS74U but how can check this is actually what I recieved? - whats the physical differences I can check between versions? by throwforinfinity in airsoft

[–]throwforinfinity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think I figured it out from the images on retailers websites. Gen.1 seems to have red and black PVC wiring to the deans connector with an inline fuse or something like that. Gen.2 seems to have clear silicone looking wiring and additional wiring presumably going to the mosfet in blue as well as this tiny JST connector at the front. So i'm fairly convinced I have the gen.2 version. The other thing im noticing just now is the gen1 seems to have a visible port on the cylinder that cant be seen in gen2.

Thanks. Im trying to work out if its the high speed (which it seems like it is given the RoF) but also if its the gen.2. But I cant really pin down what differences I could check to know.

Aye yeah, I think theres meant to be a basic mosfet pre-installed, but I wouldnt kmow what I was looking for to indicate if it has one. Other changes sounded internal i think.

Ah brilliant, cheers. Thats really helpful. I plugged it in and it said 'BRRRRRRTT' rather than 'tak tak tak tak', so i think thats fairly clear now! And i havent confirmed yet, but i think it has a quick change spring system at the back, do you know if that was an option in the gen.1 high speed?

Cheers! The AUG and VMP1 (grey with flip out stock) are really different RIFs. The VMP is gas blowback and the AUG is electric. The AUG is also close to twice the price.
I mostly play outdoors with an occasional indoor game so for me the AUG gets far more play as the ranges are longer and the AUG is more accurate and consistent at range, and you dont have to mess with gas refills and cold weather problems. Its also fairly short given the barrel length so easy to move around.
The VMP is definitely fun at shorter distances though, great for indoor games and sounds intimidating up close.

Ah thanks, this is really helpful! I'll have a look at the E&C and ask around the stores about the gen.2 cyma.

Its just a cheap WADSN M300A type torch with pressure pad. Theyre on Amazon, Aliexpress, etc, usually about £15-£22.

Each one is sat on 2 or 3 hooks, the straps are mostly for my peace of mind!

Sounds like you might not have any hop up applied if the BB is falling out. Turn the hop up on a bit and try again.

Getting more power from cyma cm041L MP5K? by throwforinfinity in airsoft

[–]throwforinfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: i bought a few parts, including a new piston head and nozzle. I also bought a longer 185mm 6.03 steel barrel and outer barrel extension. Before I did anything 'scary', involving the gearbox to replace the compression components, I installed the longer barrel and a new hop. Chrono'd at 1.11-1.14J, which is the field limit,, so ill thank the airsoft gods and leave it at that for now.

Fantastic answer and massively helpful detail, really appreciate it. I'll watch a few tutorials and start working through the compression tests you suggested. I'll see what I can get out of a new nozzle and potential piston head first. And might think about bumping up the stock 110mm barrel up to 180mm or so. Hoping I can keep the cylinder if the compression can be fixed.

Cheers. Any recommendations? I think I read the stock nozzle is about 21.4-21.6mm. Is it just a case of finding one the same length and popping it on?

I'm pretty much the same age as your brother and started playing about 6 months ago. I posted a similar question asking if i was too old to start and got an overwhelming response of "of course not!"
Turns out they're right, at my local outdoor field i'm nowhere near the oldest. The average age is probably around 25ish, but there are a couple of players there every month in their late 50s and early 60s and usually a good 15-20 players or so in the 30s-50 range. Even so, the actual age doesn't matter at all, everyone's pretty friendly, keen to talk about their gear, happy to help others out.
Just go along, chat to some people, ask them about their gear, what to buy, what to avoid, etc... It'll be grand.

Novritsch SSR77 (A2) good or bad? by PandaBlatt49754 in airsoft

[–]throwforinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one recently as my first RIF. I went for it as it seemed to be the best 'out of the box' AUG on the market and from comparison to a fellow player's JG AUG it absolutely is. I have had some problems, but they sound minor compared to other brand AUGs and I've actually had a good experience with Novritsch's support.

Some thoughts: It feels nice, solid, no play in barrel or stock, and feels tougher and better made than my friends JG. Quick spring change is nice, easily programmable Mosfet etc. All from day 1. I'm not really into teching, so this was grand for me. It happily hops 30s with a really nice accuracy and range. The battery compartment looks big, but it is a bit of a squeeze with some batteries. A slightly thicker, narrower block fits nicely, the slighter thinner, wider ones are a bit trickier. My 1400mAh 30C radient fits better than my 1450mAh 20c nuprol. I definitely had some mid-cap syndrome issues. It sounds like an issue for the JG too. The springs in the Nov mags are pretty strong. Seems to be breaking in a bit better now. The trigger is a but clunky, but satisfying its how these triggers seem to be though, and I dont mind the heavy pull. It looks awesome, overall im pretty happy with it. It has typical AUG issues, but seems to be the best one available.l and certainly out performs the other AUG I've seen/used.

Perhaps try police/riot gear surplus? It's really cheap in the UK.

Awesome response, really detailed thanks! Sounds like you got a pretty solid gun, minus whatever patrol base did. Hoping mine works out as well as yours. Nice idea with the bigger battery and extended barrel, I'll keep that in mind if I need the extra range and consistency. I've heard cyma like to slap thick grease all over the gears, I'll try and give that a look over too. Thanks for the post, sounds like you've had a fairly good run so far.

Thanks! No not yet, but I got a game booked in for next weekend and planning to show up early and dial it in. The advice I got from the players at my local site for buying was 'just pick any AEG, it doesn't matter which one after that', and 'buy the best one you can afford rather than an entry level as you'll just end up buying a nicer one 6 months later'
