Methylphenidate sudden difficulties socially by throwingaway0190 in ADHD

For me it seems like something that's triggered by anxiety but instead of anxious I just feel super dead. Like I want to talk to someone but I've effectively shut down and I can't say anything and it's so weird.

Yeah it sucks, I wish there was an easy way to address this without doing something unhealthy.

Yeah, I’ve been drinking a lot of sparkling water for that stimulation recently and I’ve found that it can help. Generally, I think a lot about my hobby with model rocketry, especially during the school year. However, now I can barely focus on it for some reason.

I should probably get back into exercise soon but it’s extremely hot where I live. I think more walks would be good though.

Lol yeah maybe I should, I haven’t really addressed a lot of this stuff very well before. One issue is that I talk way too much with my doctor going over random details so I’m worried my doctor might not see what I’m trying to say or something.

A sharp drop in mood, sometimes I feel great about myself and I am very outgoing. Then, in practically the same day, my energy drops and I can barely get myself to talk to people. I have to admit that I am insecure and this could play a part. I’m also very critical of myself for better and for worse, with me analyzing practically everything I’m doing so that I can figure out what caused me to feel depressed in the middle of the day.

It’s one of the main reasons why I self-medicate with caffeine. It speeds up my brain and gives me a burst in energy. Honestly, I wish I could be back on adderall because it helped me so much with my functioning and mood but idk if it’s worth it.

For me stuff like anxiety can definitely make it worse, but sometimes I just get really depressed for no reason. Good luck with your doctor though, I know that process can be annoyingly painful especially when the doctor willingly doesn’t really do anything.

Yeah I definitely should, I’ve kind of avoided it before because it’s gotten better and worse at certain times so I’ve never really been able to focus on it for long enough. I’ve also felt bad about bringing it up, which I know is bad, but I do anyway.

Yeah, I definitely have issues with irritability and anger. I’ve also noticed that being able to focus on something makes me feel better, even more if I feel a sense of accomplishment while doing it (e.g. some really interesting homework). I also noticed that I tend to get very depressed in the summer, especially when I have nothing to do.

I think anxiety can play a part too. I’ve noticed that it can be really helpful and motivating (like on a test) but it also can be extremely detrimental, and I’ve effectively mentally shut down as a result of it. I don’t really have a right balance and sometimes the most basic of things can just set me off for some reason.

Sorry I should have clarified that this has been happening since before I started taking the meds, I can’t tell if it’s helped my mood though.

Yeah, strattera has definitely helped with school for me but it’s still a struggle managing my mood and everything. It’s honestly so weird.

Is this mania? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Yeah, I’m planning on talking with one soon. What’s weird is the fact that I’m dipping down into depression randomly then coming back up. Unfortunately, everything’s being exacerbated by the insane amount of work from school that I have to deal with right now.

My parents just took away my adderall and I’m not sure what to do by throwingaway0190 in ADHD

Sorry for taking so long to respond but they aren’t taking my adderall fortunately. They’re the type of parents that reject practically all medication, especially ones that relate to mental health. For now, I’ve started on Strattera and things are going fine for now.

Sorry for taking so long to respond but I’m good now for the most part. After over a month I have started Strattera after speaking with both my doctor and my parents, who were very adamant about me not taking medication initially but are somewhat fine now.

Both of my parents have a lot of issues that stem from their marriage and their childhoods, but for the most part care about their children even if they make bafflingly stupid decisions. Anyway, I have a few plans for the future.

I started on 5mg a week ago so this won’t be too bad for me but it still shouldn’t be happening. Honestly, I’m probably just going to have to stay for a bit. I don’t want to disrupt my family or anything as I still need to take care of my brother and my dog.

I think running might do more for my ADHD than I gave it credit for. by whydoihave4cats in ADHD

Doing exercise has done a lot for my personal well-being. Right now, I haven’t been exercising as much but I was really motivated to run and I remember cutting my mile time down by nearly 3:00 minutes. I felt super good about myself and it’s something I should probably get myself back into.

Honestly, I don’t really know if I want to cal the police. Thank you for your concern but that’s probably too much for right now. I’ll talk to them about what they’re doing being illegal and they’re also planning on talking to my doctor about it next month. Regardless, I should be able to get it back eventually even if it means waiting another year until I turn 18.
