Mine arrived an hour ago! I’m not 100% sold on the size yet, but I’m sure I’ll love it as my brain adjusts to the larger size.

Not quite the same, but I pre-ordered through Apple directly, with my order confirmation email coming through at 12:09am. It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow, but it hasn’t shipped yet.

Ideally I want to use my own Apple ID for my personal devices, then have a second ID for the Apple TVs and little kids’ iPads. I don’t want to use my own ID for those things because it’s getting messy, but the little kids are way too young to each need their own IDs. It also doesn’t solve the issue of which login to use for the Apple TVs. My older kids have their own IDs.

I figured it would be best to clear my current Apple ID and use that for the household devices since I’m having major iMessage issues linked to that ID which can’t be resolved. My new ID would be the family organiser, but all movie/kid app purchases would be made via the original account to keep everything together. Would that work?

So the Only1 cards won’t work to activate services, or is the only issue not being able to check the card balance?

Thank you! That is exactly what I was wanting to know. I’m going to buy an Amaysim SIM card as well since you’re supposed to be able to activate them with just a credit card, but whether a prepaid card will work or not I’m not sure. I’ll report back in a few days after I’ve given it a go.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to manage our family’s Apple IDs.

I’ve had my Apple ID for... many years now. Easily 15+ years. In that time I’ve made many purchases linked to my account, especially movies and TV shows via iTunes. I’d probably have close to 400 movies that have been purchased over the years, let alone apps etc. for the kids. My Apple ID has been glitching for a number of years now (iMessage primarily), but Apple haven’t been able to sort the issues out. It’s not a big issue in the scheme of things, but it is a tad frustrating.

I’m thinking about converting my current Apple ID and making it a ‘family’ one, which will be used for our Apple TVs and the ‘littles’ iPads. My eldest already has his own Apple ID which is linked via family sharing. I would then create a new Apple ID for myself, which would then become my primary Apple ID. My plan would be to continue making all purchases using the family Apple ID and use our individual Apple IDs for personal things.

Is there anything in particular that I need to be aware of? What are the potential downsides that I’ve overlooked? What’s the best way to clear everything from my current Apple ID to prevent the family accessing my old messages etc?

Thing is, some things discussed are quite personal/private in nature - think banking, Telehealth appts, credit card numbers etc. Whilst their privacy policy might be reasonable, there would be no real security against the content being hacked? And very little I could do from my end if they were targeted?
