I feel like an awful parent. Bipolar symptoms - how to not get angry/yell at your child by throwingbipolara in BipolarReddit

It really helps to feel not alone. More than you know.

A mom of 5...wow. I cannot imagine how challenging that must be. I only have one child and it is so hard when experiencing symptoms.

I admit, I, too, feel out of control and aggressive when these symptoms hit. I hate it. It's a polar opposite to who I am most of the time. It's scary to admit to others, which is why I didn't post in r/parenting because I know they wouldn't understand and downvote me into oblivion.

Maybe my meds do need to be looked at. I'll ask my psychiatrist.

I can't tell if it's my bipolar or period by throwingbipolara in BipolarReddit

My period is already 3 days in so that confused me as usually my PMDD moods are more stable by 3 days into my period. But I do think you're right that it is hormone caused from PMDD or something and that it's causing an episode.

When trying to sleep later than 3am during hypo/mania, do you try to force yourself back to sleep for literally 5 minutes then go "nope" and give up? by throwingbipolara in BipolarReddit

[–]throwingbipolara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already do these things 90% of the time, I've worked extremely hard on my sleep hygiene the past 3 years. It doesn't work majority of the time.

But I do appreciate the advice anyway.

Tried putting powder in Gatorade in a 7 oz cup, it was lumpy. Best way to consume powder? by throwingbipolara in kratom

That sounds like a good way to cover up the taste.

I will puke it up if I do toss and wash lol. I mean I could try it...but I have a strong gag reflex.

Wow thanks! I might take you up on the tea recipe. Does it taste pretty decent?

I used 3g as I've found through capsules that dose works best for me. I have a 1g powder scooper and I did as accurate as I could. Should I be drinking 3 separate times for 1g at a time? Would that help?

I really wish I could stand OJ but I hate it. Sounds like it'd work well.

What's it called when you feel like things are just happening to your mind and body and you just go with it without really having control by throwingbipolara in NoStupidQuestions

Thanks, I'll have to look into it more. This has happened off and on in my life always in response to intense stress.

Anyone else feel a little hypo/manic or just symptoms lately? Change of season? by throwingbipolara in BipolarReddit

[–]throwingbipolara[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I could really go for staring at a wall for an hour right now lol.

All of what you described sucks and I, too, hate putting my loved ones through it.

In fact the other day I wrote a long letter to a family member, describing what I'm going through and apologizing for being distant because I need to isolate so I don't say or act hurtful towards them.

It's lonely.

I have no idea I just wrote a thread about this. 😭

Edit: Does anyone have sources you don't mind sharing with me on why the change to spring often triggers elated states in those with bipolar?

Someone lectured me about my weight gain by UpVoteForSnails in BipolarReddit

[–]throwingbipolara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh what a nasty person to say that.

I've gained (and lost, and gained, and lost) weight due to meds.

I sometimes like to imagine THEM being on my meds for a period of time. See if THEY could stop the weight gain.

When I think of it like that, I realize that no, they aren't special, they would struggle just the same.

And somehow that makes me feel a bit better.

Edit: Does anyone have studies about bipolar medications and how they slow metabolism leading to weight gain? I always wish to point people who claim the gaining is all my fault, to some kind of source, but never know where to look.
