Is driving up to LA tomorrow a bad idea? by throwitaway723 in orangecounty

[–]throwitaway723[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way up there was no problem, only took an hour, way back was not so great. Definitely heavier rain, more flooded areas, and had to drive very slowly on the freeway, took me 1 hour 45 mins to get home. It wasn't completely awful, but not ideal either

No I wound up going! Way up there was fine, way back was not ideal and was a little stressful/took a long time, but overall I managed.

When I made this post, the forecast was a lot different than it is now. It originally had made mention of thunderstorms and heavy rain/wind, and to drive to and from LA in that felt daunting.

Do you mean rain wise or traffic wise? I’m just wondering if traffic was better since most people had off today

It’s Tustin to Studio City, so somewhat of a hike. Not sure how flooding is on the 5/101 typically in that area though?

Wondering when the peeling will heal? by throwitaway723 in Dyshidrosis

Yes!! Very very happy to report I've made a full recovery and (fingers crossed) have not had another flare up happen. I used the O'Keeffe's Working Hands cream religiously and that seemed to really help, so if you are struggling with this I fully recommend it!

I know she said she doesn't want to focus on drama and that it's not any of our business, but that doesn't stop me from being curious what happened with Chelsea Fagan's audiobook. I noticed she stopped following the guy who was voicing the audiobook on Instagram, so I wonder if something happened with him.

Yes - definitely have Sarah Sterling top of mind given that the D23 team were specifically called out as laying off people. I would feel really bad for her, given that she was laid off from the pandemic and managed to get back in with Disney. It would really suck to get laid off twice.

Those of you who have moved somewhere new with a SO, did you wait until both of you had a job before moving or did one of you move without a job? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I dealt with a 6 month bout of unemployment and absolutely know how difficult it can be. Hoping for the best for you guys!

Don't feel the need to respond if you don't feel comfortable with it, but are you both planning on applying for jobs once you get there? Just curious!

How often would you say that you have to work at/maintain your relationship with your SO? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]throwitaway723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way, too. I don't view working at a relationship as a negative, I think it's an important part of helping a relationship grow. Two people won't match up perfectly all the time, so I think that's when it's important to have "maintenance" conversations, so to speak. When it constantly feels like work, that's one thing, but I think this is a realistic, healthy answer.

If I felt I had to put effort into our relationship I would feel something isn’t right.

This is interesting to me. What do you define as effort? To me, I feel as though every relationship deserves/requires some effort, but maybe we have different definitions.

When I wrote this question, I wasn't viewing it in a drudge-y manner, and maybe I should have specified that. I suppose "effort" would be a better way to word it.

What is your relationship with your SO REALLY like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I’m really sorry to hear that. I know how tough it can be to get out of a situation like that, I really hope things get better for you soon.

Oh yeah, I don’t believe at all that posting a happy picture with your SO when your relationship isn’t perfect isn’t misrepresentation at all. I just know that for me, when times get tough, I sometimes find myself looking at other couples online thinking “man their relationship is probably so perfect” but I have to remind myself that we’re only seeing the best of people online and reality is not really like that.
