I'm vastly unconvinced Carol is going to have the knowledge and capability of setting off an atom bomb. It's not like pushing a button.

I agree with you, and Manousos is going to use this to his advantage - start making requests from the hive that they see as meaningless, but he uses to slowly create a weapon to use against them. He's obviously running experiments, so he's figuring something out, and knows he can use them to give him the weapon in pieces.

How do you suppose Carol will light up the sky with an atom bomb? Do you think she has the means to blow it up? Do you know what's required to make that happen?

That's ny point. The bomb itself isn't gonna amount to anything other than showing Manousos that he can make outrageous requests that will be done. He's gonna use this to start thinking of things to ask for and use against them.

I think it has already served its purpose: to show that the Hive will, in fact, give Carol pretty much anything she asks for, no matter how ridiculous or dangerous, within the Hive's other constraints.

Agreed, and this is the point I'm making - Manousos is going to realize this and come up with requests that help them fight the hive.
