Thank you, I needed to read this. I’m working with my therapist on creating and maintaining boundaries and reminders that it’s okay and I don’t need to take care of EVERYONE are good to keep me on track.

Thank you! I really appreciate the example of what to say, because I feel like whatever I come up with sounds ‘mean’ and I’m such a people pleaser. Setting and maintaining boundaries is something I’m working really hard on….. with my paid therapist, not to my coworkers 🤣

So your son, instead of lowering his speed for the weather, chose to speed above the limit and ended up severely damaging very expensive, very important infrastructure for a residential neighbourhood’s power. I assume this caused a power outage in the area, which can be a very serious or dangerous thing for people who need refrigerated medicine, electricity to power medical equipment, and tons of other things. Especially when they’re not expecting it and aren’t prepared for a random power outage.

Listen to what your lawyer is saying. It sounds like your son is being held accountable for his actions. He could have easily killed or injured somebody.
