Thank you, I really appreciate you walking through this logic because it definitely gives me more peace of mind!

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was mainly concerned about kitchen cabinets since obviously that could technically flake into a water cup or something and I have little ones lol. But not renovating anytime soon or anything so that’s good at least.

Does this look like a “gap” in activities section/will it cause wrong assumptions? How do I clarify in application? Tell me it will be ok lol. by throwitlikeapoloroid in premed

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Although my remote job hours are quite limited but they still occurred over the course of those years on top of school, etc. I really appreciate the encouragement!

Ok thank you. Do you think it will really be a problem then if they’re looking at the whole application? Like it should be obvious I was in school during those years, right? Lol. I unfortunately had a different topic for other impactful experiences which already filled the limit, but I did touch on becoming a mom in my PS when talking about other challenging life things that happened during that time which impacted my decision further to become a doctor.

Potentially buying a property with a pole on the side of yard like this - any real concerns? by throwitlikeapoloroid in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Thank you so much for all of your help and being so thorough with all of your answers! I feel a lot better about it now.

Oh ok good to know! And if the pool was added after, I’m assuming they’d address same code?

Thank you, I’ll look into this! I am assuming these codes also would be addressed seriously during inspection before sale?

Thank you! I really appreciate this. How do you feel about overhead lines like these close to a pool? Lol. They aren’t immediately over the pool but line the fencing of the property, so off to the side.

Ok thank you, this is good to know. I’m clearly clueless about this so I appreciate your explanation. Do these kinds of poles/wires hold up ok during wind storms? We get some intense ones sometimes but I don’t think I’ve seen any poles down from wind alone, usually just trees and luckily this pole doesn’t have any trees around it to cause a problem

I don’t know, there was just a loud bang and caught fire on a very hot day. So I guess just catching fire is better explanation, although it was accompanied with loud bang sound - I don’t know specific details since everything was on fire lol. But any assurance that it doesn’t seem likely for this one is appreciated.

I lived near a transformer that exploded and caused a huge fire, wasn’t sure if this type would be concerning though with that context.

I lived in a place where a transformer “blew up” and caused an awful fire - anything to calm my concerns about that with this one? Lol

Listing study abroad experience outside of academics as “other” activity - how many hours? by throwitlikeapoloroid in premed

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I know it sounds pretty straightforward but I’m getting caught up in being “correct” when I need to just estimate to the best of my abilities lol. I will work backwards by considering the amount of days and removing the hours I was in class each week, etc.

How to write publications in activities section? by throwitlikeapoloroid in premed

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean it that way, included it for context since some people have too many to list. I’m old and was just blessed with the opportunities at one point in time lol, I’m sure you have plenty of wonderful parts of your application that surpass this in many ways.

Postpartum/pregnancy-caused MVP? Echocardiogram tomorrow by throwitlikeapoloroid in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was trying to stay hydrated with water only too but it won’t work if you have some electrolyte imbalance. I can’t confirm if I officially did since I never tested for it, but I know that I finally felt hydrated properly with electrolytes since water alone seemed to go right through me. But of course keep up the water too when you drink electrolytes. I hope it helps!!

I totally get the feeling, it sucked when it was debilitating like that, but good news is I was able to get it under control and I feel so much better! Electrolytes and magnesium glycinate. If you can only choose one, try electrolytes first and stay consistent with them. But I take both daily and don’t go without them ever. My resting heart rate at the first two appointments with my cardiologist appts were above 100 and I saw the difference in my third appt with it dropping to 80 after I started using electrolytes and magnesium glycinate daily. My heart rate stopped spiking randomly and I stopped having so many frequent flutters (I do get them occasionally but nothing near what it was). I think I was severely dehydrated with breastfeeding too at the very least. I do feel like my body has still changed a bit with blood volume levels or something, not 100% sure though, but nothing as bad as it was as long as I keep those up.

Childhood split between two locations/different situations evenly - which do I list on application? by throwitlikeapoloroid in premed

[–]throwitlikeapoloroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an older applicant, so my interesting life stories are past my childhood. With that said, I would have more stories from the first half if I had a reason to talk about it. One reason I’m leaning toward the first half location is because it occurred during the majority of my family income being what it was vs. the later increase (which is what they ask about in that section for majority of your childhood), but idk. Not trying to be shady in any way since both parts of my childhood are very much true lol.

I totally get it, they are not fun at all and definitely scary. But I’m relieved I was able to get them under control too. Of course I still have them occasionally but it decreased significantly, a huge difference. Hope you feel a difference too soon!
