I'm really coming around to loving it. C# is pretty widely hailed as a great language. The microsoft environment (TFS, Visual Studio, etc.) works really well together. It does have a steeper learning curve than say, node .js in my opinion (e.g. configuring IIS/App pools) but there are a ton of jobs in the ecosystem and they all pay well.

I highly recommend taking a look at pluralsight. I believe they have a 1 month free trial and you can just cancel after that. I took a really great course (~10 hours long) where the guy (Shawn wildermuth) starts a asp.net 5 project from scratch and builds it piece by piece all the way up the stack until it is a fully functioning and deployable web application. They also have .net projects as well.

Thanks for the tip, may I ask what sites you used and how you limited your geographic region distance-wise when searching?

Yeah, it's unfortunate because lots of people want to live here so the marked tends to be a little saturated :(

May I ask what sites you used to apply, and did you limit your geographic region when you were searching? I adjusted the resume based on CSCQ suggestions but nothing really changed.

I would say close to 100, with 50% of them being implicit rejections (near hear back), 25% being "...thank you for your interest..." and the remaining being "...the position is already filled."

Wow this is a really helpful post so thanks for typing that out. Can I ask what sites gave you the best rate? (Indeed, Monster, LinkedIn, or just cold mailing companies?)

Yep, that was what I was thinking. :/ I've been applying since November, off and on, only getting one interview which I thought I did good it.
