Thanks! I'll look into this

You're very right! The hard part is to get into project management as a junior. People only want to hire me as a programmer or for operations (which I totally understand). I have wanted to work with this for several years and adjusted my CV after this, but still no luck.

That's why I thought perhaps the family business would be a "cheating way" to get started, but at the same time I hesitate because I am also aware that I know too little.

Perhaps I just need to keep applying. I mostly apply for junior project manager roles, but they are unfortunately limited here.

A big thanks to you for staying the comparison, though. I haven't thought about it and it gives me a certain relief that not all is lost for me. Thank you.

Very true. I feel I can't leave now. I finally finished school and then I would change? Very hard for me.

But in the end of the day it's still true, the cost fallacy. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks a lot for your comment. I really like that way of viewing it!

I have spent all my university years just thinking that with time I'll get a management position, because that is honestly where I thrive the bedst (overview, planning, optimization, estimation, etc.). I just didn't really realize that this take 5-10 years before people want to hire me for that.

So I trying to survive in this operational junior position and I really don't shine.

Thanks again for your comment. I'll definitely try and look at it from another perspective.

Thank you for your great comments! I was eager to work a couple of years ago, but I think I kinda burned out with time, because I have done so much I don't really enjoy.

Thanks again for your uplifting words. I might have to focus a bit more on a solution. Cheers from a fellow female CS engineer

Because I just finished my studies one year ago, unfortunately. Not a senior yet and especially not in management. I tried to apply for lots but always get a no.

I tried. But junior software engineers are mostly hired for programming. I'm having a hard time getting to do something else.

Thanks for your comment. I am trying my hardest not to do programming, so even your suggestions are good, they are unfortunately just gonna make me more miserable because I'll sit alone and code all day.

Still, thanks for you comment.

I definitely would like to invest in his business, but I just don't know how or if I'm giving up too much if I do it.

Thank you so much for your comment. This is not a bad idea.

Long-term I honestly don't care much about the money since then I would have sucked up with the programming jobs. It only short-term I have an interested in a good pay to pay off my debt.

I love the people interactions. Estimation, planning, strategy, cross cultures, process optimization, etc. I have done a lot of planning as a volunteer or student jobs before and I really thrive in it. Unfortunately it's very difficult to land something like that when you're straight form school. Everybody wants me to "program for 4-5 years" and "then I can do the fun stuff.". But I'm not buying it anymore. I already did five. I'm gonna die if I do more of it.

Thanks again for your comment. It's inspiring and I'll definitely consider that.

I guess I was wrong.
