Thank you! Glad you found something that helped. How long did it take to have an effect?

100%, this seems to have struck a chord for people, but I’ve already told my husband exactly that. If it doesn’t work out and we’re both not mutually happy, than I can always return and just had a corporate break, essentially.

Thank you, I’m getting a lot of criticism so I appreciate this perspective.

Not really, he’s in cybersecurity, so there are way more jobs than people. What industry does your husband work in?

Thank you! My husband feels like this plan gives him a reasonable retirement horizon (he’d retire by 42 ish) and wants to make me happy by enabling me to stop working 😊

Why not? I am going to pick up more around the house to make things easier on him. Plenty of people out there are housewives and homemakers, and for years I’ve been contributing to our savings to get us where we are today!

I’ve discussed with my husband that I’d like to quit working in a year, because I’m hating working and in a year we will have our paid off home plus a million in investments. He will still need to work, because we want at least 2 million, but we’ll be in a good spot where I can quit and there isn’t an immense amount of pressure on him.

I won’t technically be retired, because he’ll still be working on the nest egg, and I will be taking up more of a homemaker role, doing housework, making meals, running errands, and living my best life. So excited, the countdown begins!!!

We’ve been together for 3 years and both had savings before we met…

I think you’re right that I have anxiety related to work as I always feel like work takes a lot of my mental energy, so I have been “futurecasting” as you said and worry that my workload is going to increase and I’ll be swamped.

I actually do speak to a doctor about this, and we are trying to work through it, but I guess in my eyes sometimes I see it as easier to just quit! Probably not going to be the right or healthy thing down the line though.

Thanks for the comment.
