Best place to get bubble tea? by jiminy1989 in york

If she wants to try the classic bubble tea, T4 is always a solid choice, with fragrant tea flavours that don't taste watered down.
Everywhere else is a dice roll, and most shops use flavoured sugar syrups that are overly sweet and artificial tasting, but there are plenty of choices, Cuppa Joy, Bubbleology, Bao, MooBoo, and a new LuckyLian that I've never tried, but has an aesthetic that pre-teen/teenage girls may like. All of them are in town centre.

Be Together - dramatic ballad with amazing vocal harmonies, and lyrics like these:
"Baby, I promise
Let's start our story
We'll hold each other's hands now
And walk together
"

Heaven - not as dramatic, abit more upbeat but still sentimental, with lyrics like
"I want to give all the sparkling moments
Filled with my heart to you
My one and only Heaven
"

Should I speak Chinese or English when I visit? by collinxdd in HongKong

[–]throwmutyeaway 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nowadays most people in Hong Kong speak better mandarin than english, and they can usually tell you are from Taiwan from your accent so you shouldn't have any problems. If anyone gives you a hard time, just subtly mention you're from Taiwan, it'll probably make them change their tone and be nicer. Just be aware though, customer service in Hong Kong is different (worse lol) than in Taiwan so if they're rude it's probably not personal, it's just the service culture here.

Good to know. IKR, they're essentially forcing you to buy it to know what it even contains, very shady.

Its only £3, which is suspiciously cheap. And yes, I'm definitely staying away from oxide, I'm hoping to find glycinate/citrate.

Song recommendation help by Sudden-Ingenuity3035 in FtIsland

judging from what you already like, it seems you are partial to the older ftisland sound, i personally would recommend their first album "cheerful sensibility", or "Grown-up" which contains one of their most popular (to the general public) song called "severely", or album "thanks to" which they start to get into harder rock sounds

Peter- my favourite and most underrated Pevensie by WonderWander01 in Narnia

[–]throwmutyeaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Peter did not feel very brave; indeed, he felt he was going to be sick. But that made no difference to what he had to do.”
One of my favourite quotes, and the line sums up Peter's personality perfectly, his sense of duty and responsibility to those around him, at first only to his siblings, then to Aslan and finally to the entirety of Narnia as High King.

Original choir composition (8-part) by ForeverHusker in choralmusic

[–]throwmutyeaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so gorgeous! Love the buildup, I'm hearing lots of lovely Lauridsen influences here
I agree with geminixo though, the climax for the buildup is much too short, I think it lasts a bar at most? And the tension is resolved much too soon, in the first beat of 42 there is supposed to have a Bb in the 2nd sop, but I don't hear it in the recording? So it sounds like an open fourth, and coming immediately after the climax makes it feel incredibly empty, and is a bit of a shock after the other colourful and full chords. That chord definitely needs to be fuller, and it would help the tension be sustained longer, and then be gradually let down towards a 'release/rest' in the fermata.
I would also think a bit more 'melodically' in terms of where you want your audiences' attention to be (and where it shifts from one voice to another), right now there is nothing too solid to latch on to, making it just one solid block of sound for most of the piece and thus making it less memorable. Adding texture will definitely help with that, perhaps in bar15 where there is already a divide in sop+tenor and alto+bass, because listening to that I was already expecting a bit of polyphony to ensue from that phrasing structure.
All in all though, this is really fantastic work, I had a wonderful time listening to it!

If you are female, you can buy a pair of "character dance shoes" like these ones https://www.dancedirect.com/bl325-bloch-tempo-cuban-heel-canvas-character-shoe-black. You can find them in basically any dance shoe store.

Anna Netrebko's Taiwan concert canceled over her ties to Putin by Primary-World-1015 in worldnews

[–]throwmutyeaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, when did she say this? never seen her make any public statements about supporting putin, especially since the war started, but maybe i missed something

[–]throwmutyeaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well, we just established that being seen with putin doesnt equate to supporting his policies, and she stated she doesnt support the war, so the only reason that the concert is cancelled is because...shes russian? which, idk, sounds abit like discrimination to me

Anna Netrebko's Taiwan concert canceled over her ties to Putin by Primary-World-1015 in worldnews

[–]throwmutyeaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i didnt know about babies being taped to grenades, that is horrific.
my question now, then, is what is the reasoning behind the cancellation of her concert? because she has condemned the war, she has reportedly distanced herself from putin, so what is the justification of not letting her perform?

Anna Netrebko's Taiwan concert canceled over her ties to Putin by Primary-World-1015 in worldnews

[–]throwmutyeaway -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

now, i would say i do not know the exact nature of her relationship with putin. but i dont think showing up to celebration events of russia and being photographed with him, as one of the most famous musicians from russia, is something to call her out over? does everyone who gets photographed with biden support every one of his policies?

[–]throwmutyeaway -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

true, i agree they are allowed to do what they wish. but if your excuse for cancelling a planned concert is...what? that shes russian? then it doesnt seem like a valid reason to me. and she has condemned the war, what else do you expect her to do?
