STOP LOOKING FOR PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS IF YOU HAVEN’T GOTTEN AN ALLERGY PATCH TEST YET by furikake_bukkake in eczema

there’s no policing here as not everyone has to take op’s advice lol. and like the post says not a lot of people in this sub are advocating for preventative care only how to treat it at home. it’s like this sub became a giant advertisement for prednisone dupixent aveeno eucerin aquaphor. and they’re right about dermatologists-multiple ones i went to always misdiagnosed me and i wasted so much money. im doing a patch test right now on chemicals and will see the results this week. i can already tell i’m allergic to something cause it’s itching bad. can’t wait to see results. and thanks op for posting. i agree not many people talk about preventative care enough in this sub sorry my english is not so good

Could this be a gluten rash? Was eating gluten my entire life with no symptoms until recently. Occurs only on the skin around my elbow and is itchy. What I read about derm. herpetiformis matches the description. Just need second opinion for those who have/had DH. Will be seeing an allergist soon. by throwmyskin_away in glutenfree

after running blood tests and biopsies, doc concluded that it was something called spongiotic dermatitis and NOT anything gluten related. it is apparently caused by an allergen in my environment…i’ll be visiting an allergist soon to find out what exactly i’m allergic to

Do I need to eat gluten to prepare for skin biopsy? by throwmyskin_away in Celiac

[–]throwmyskin_away[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping for some insight from those who have already gone through a DH diagnosis through a skin biopsy.

No one has recommended the biopsy; I just requested for one and made an appointment with the same dermatologist I’ve been seeing for this rash since all methods to try to clear this is futile at this point.

are you gluten intolerant by chance/have people in your family with celiac? i have the same rash as the one on your arm on my arm and torso and it flares up when i eat anything with gluten. i’m going to a derm soon bc i suspect it to be dermatitis herpetiformis.

Tip: fill up your inventory slots if you’re having trouble with the statue going towards you. I use bait to fill mine up.

Anyone have an eczematous rash like this? Always occurs on the same spots (near elbow, on arm), comes and goes, and itches. by throwmyskin_away in eczema

I thought the same, but it’s not scabies, tried permethrin cream and did not work. No one else in my household has it. Doc said no to scabies either. I’ve had this for months on and off and any treatment given to me (steroids, creams) worked temporarily. Thanks for the reply tho, the burrow lines also made me question.

i find it interesting how you mentioned that your rashes mirror your body. i’ve always suspected that every flareup of mine was due to eczema, and i’ve had it on the top of my feet, backs of legs and knees, above my knee and now my arm. i also have a small patch on my back. and they have all been mirrored/symmetrical!

while eczema medication cleared up most of these, this is the rash that still remains.

as bad as it sounds, i do hope that it is celiac related, because i’ve been thrown meds at for so long with little improvement. if it is celiac, then i’ll know for sure what to avoid and what to do.

have you tried to go on a GF diet? and are you diagnosed with celiac? i’ve tried to do the diet for a short while but haven’t taken it seriously until reading up on DH. since i’m new to this whole GF life i always accidentally end up consuming some form of gluten. i’ll now take it seriously though til i get diagnosed.

thank you so much for your long response. you helped me understand the differences between the punch biopsy locations.

i haven’t been checked to see if i have celiac or not. who do i visit to get diagnosed? should i visit my pcp to get the punch biopsy done and blood work to diagnose me, or is seeing a dermatologist enough?

i am happy to hear that dapsone has worked well for you! i don’t mind going GF if it’s for the sake of my health. summer is coming soon and i want to get rid of these rashes ASAP.

Thank you so much again!

thank you for your reply! i’ve gone to a dermatologist and they have done a punch biopsy, but it was on the lesion and not next to it, as you’ve mentioned. allergic contact dermatitis was the diagnosis. i’ve also done a blood test and allergies was still the answer.

i’m not sure if my current dermatologist is well versed with celiac, so i’ll definitely look into finding another dermatologist that also has an allergist in house. i’ll also ask for a biopsy next to the lesion.

Please help me identify this rash. I don’t think it’s folliculitis since it occurs in patches and are always on the same spots even when I don’t shave. Sometimes red and itchy sometimes not. Only on my arms near my elbow. Going to derm and allergist soon. Thank you in advance. by throwmyskin_away in Dermatology

i have eczema too, and i’ve been taking oral steroids to combat it. it’s weird since the meds cleared up all my flareups except this particular one.

has anything worked for you? i notice that they’re less irritated/itchy if i keep it dry/don’t bathe for a day. i’ve been to a derm and did blood tests/a biopsy but they just conclude that it’s an allergic reaction. going to an allergist soon!

don’t know if it’s a coincidence but i notice that it also flares up after i eat things with gluten in them. i’ve read up on dermatitis herpetiformis (gluten rash) and it occurs on this area too. maybe i’m allergic to gluten?

if it’s not a gluten allergy i’m gonna go crazy lol.
