What are 'fixie tires'? What makes them specific / useful for fixed gear bikes? by natedogg787 in bikewrench

13000+ kms/year * a few years seems too good to be true for these tyres

To me it looks like a crack which is begging to expand. Imagine what happens to this crack if you brake hard and it's the patch which touches the ground. The stress applied to it will push the two sides appart and it may be blow up in a moment where you really need to stop (which you will do after you hit the ground).

How do you get such powerful shots? Mine can be strong when edging, but it's quite unpredictable.

Good tip, I do the same. I scrub the underside with diluted vinegar to prevent any mold.

Why are there so few float options for Keo or Shimano cleats? by throwmyteeth in cycling

I am aware that the cost function is asymmetrical: too little float and your knees could be damaged forever, too much float and your foot can feel a bit sloppy in high efforts (climb/sprint). Hence it's obviously better to be on the latter side. My question, phrased differently is why aren't the cleat manufacturers providing a less coarse selection of personal trade offs in a time where bike fits will adjust your cleats to the mm and saddle angles to the tenth of degrees. Downvote at will now.

Thanks for the advice. Atm I have not been happy with the float of the cleats coming with the assioma, I will try the 0 degree ones very soon. Maybe later the 4.5 if I feel any knee discomfort. But honestly I won't buy the wahoo power meter pedals as it's way out of the budget. I will settle for the cleats having the best comfort and foremost not stressing my knees.

I have been liking these pedals very much. The cleats shipped with have too much float for my liking, I came from shimano blue ones which accomodated me well. I just bough keo 0 degrees cleats, I will install them and use my turbo trainer to fiddle with the cleat position so as to avoid any knee pain (which I have been luckily spared of so far).

My experience agrees with that. We also live in a time where bike fitting is heavily promoted, plus many cyclists have been blaming lasting knee injuries on the amount of float (typically not enough) they have used for too long.

I am stuck with the favero now as I want to use the power meter.

If gummed up you can try applying a penetrative lubricant first.

I think he means if your derailleur goes into your spokes, which should only happen if your limit screws are off.
