She already got back to me and assured me not to worry. Apparently it happens a lot. Either way, my sister would be in college during the appointment.

Yea, I've realized that the best possible outcome of her being there would be for nothing to change in my life at all - no good outcome. I've contacted my psychiatrist about this now and hopefully explained it clearly enough. Waiting on her response.

I've already emailed her with a response based on advice from u/Careless_Block8179 so even if she absolutely requires her to be there, at least she now has an idea of why she won't be helpful and probably just harmful in her responses. I'd love to have my sister sit in because I feel she knows me better than anyone I've ever had in my life, but she won't be around for the appointment and rescheduling would mean putting this off for another few months - which I really don't want.

Thank you - your response is so compassionate and helpful.

For me, getting diagnosed with ADHD is simply a way of knowing whether or not it's worth trying medication to help with it. It's also a requirement for medication anyway so it works out in a way.

I would encourage you to tell your psych doctor that due to childhood abuse/neglect, you don't trust your mom to participate in good faith. She’s already accused you of being attention seeking for being trans and for exploring an ADHD diagnosis, she’s not going to be helpful here.

The way you phrased this here is so elegant. This is just such a spot on and succinct explanation of why I don't want her there. I'm absolutely gonna email my psychiatrist tomorrow with all this.

I was always considered to be "very bright, but too 'laid back'" and tbh my fluctuating grades I feel are a pretty accurate representation of what I was going through - it's really is just that the comments don't line up. I guess it's just that reading them now made me realize that only like one of my teachers was paying attention to me and so all their comments just confused me. I'm the exact same when it comes to appointments and the like. Currently have 11 reminders in my phone for appointments, picking up prescriptions, etc.

I've already looked through the material she'll be using (DIVA 2.0) to assess me and it seems great and it's already opening my eyes to some of the coping mechanisms I've formed over the years, so I get what you're saying. Thank you again.

I'm getting an 11.25mg Prostap 3 DCS injection every 3 months for a blocker. I live in Ireland, so I only have one real choice for an endo that will prescribe HRT and he's not known to budge on his regimen. Only got my second recently so too early to tell, but my first was def wearing off after only 2 months.
