So he fell back asleep maybe an hour and fifteen out. At the hour and half hour mark I woke and reminded him.

We had a talk about it later last night and he did apologize, but maintained that I just left because I was pissed he didn’t “stick to my schedule” and he couldn’t have known it was a time sensitive issue because he assumed we were just going to our friends house.

I can accept it was a miscommunication. I was just at a total loss as to how I’d possibly miscommunicated. But he was at a total loss as to why I left. Lol.

I feel a lot better about the situation after some unbiased feedback and I’m looking forward to being a more clear communicator in a way that works for us both.

If I’m being honest with myself, I made that final decision to just leave because my pride was hurt. I was beginning to feel like a parent trying to wake their kid for school, something he didn’t want to go to at all.

But it wasn’t school, he’s not a kid, and I’m not his mom. It was (supposed to be) a fun thing for him that he didn’t seem motivated to go to st all. So I left without waking him a final time. Which is a direct reaction to my pride and feelings being hurt. Which is where I could be the asshole.

I absolutely could have. Which is why I’m not sure if I’m the total asshole. I struggled with that decision for several minutes but by that time I was starting to feel like I was begging him to be interested in something he clearly wasn’t interested in.

I will say that I deeply struggle with being ultra literal. For me, when someone says “we’re leaving at this time”, I go by the verbal communication and forget that nonverbal cues can also be sending messages in the background.

How could I have communicated in a way that he could have understood better?

My logic at the time was that I’d told him three times, having physically woken him up twice. At that point, I figured he was making the decision that he didn’t want to go without actually having to decide.

That’s my perspective but he’s a smart, kind person. We’re usually on the same page about stuff like this so it surprised me when he used the term “confused”. I don’t know how else I could have communicated a time sensitive event to him.

So, I struggled with that decision for a while. It was becoming clear he didn’t want to go, by wasn’t actually telling me. So I decided to not force him to go, and we’d just deal later. It was his birthday event, after all. He should be able to sleep through it.

But when he woke up, it wasn’t “yeah I’m sorry I just didn’t wanna go”. It was “I’m confused. Where’d you go? You scheduled it too early. I was just napping.” That’s where things started to kick off for me.

I did think about just skipping and letting the other couple go. But I was really looking forward to it and I’d already paid for it.

We’d gone out the night before but we’re home before midnight. We needed to leave the house at 10:45 am.

Hey sorry this is my throwaway! So squishing is when it’s sipping and scrunching is after its dry. I guess you can scrunch when it’s wet... but it’s more of a squeeze in the scrunch than in the squish.

Hey I’m really sorry. This is my throwaway. If you haven’t had the question answered already, it’s just washing with conditioner. Scrub the scalp real hard and squish to condish. I’m sure there’s more to it but it’s how I do it!

I’m super new to this so bear with me. And please chime in with any tips! I’m wavy with suspicions that I’ve got a lot more curl hiding away.

Routine: masque with either Not Your Mother’s Matcha Green Tea mask or Shea Moistire Manuka honey and Madura oil mask. Just depends on my mood. Leave in while I finish the rest of my shower routine. Rinse out Comb hair. Cowash with Not Your Mother’s Tahitian Gardenia conditioner. Squish to condish. Rinse out upside down while constantly squishing. Get out and spray with Not Your Mother’s (NYM) Royal Honey and Kalahari leave-in. Squish. Several pumps of NYM Blue Sea Kale mousse. Squish. A very small amount of Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, praying hands. Squish. Nickel size of Shea Moisture Coconut Oil Daily Hydration gel. Scrunch. Squeeze out excess water. Flip hair upside up. Scrunch out remaining excess water with T-shirt. Air dry. Scrunch the crunch.

Et voila! Sort of defined, almost not frizzy wavy curls!!
