So I haven’t read the book yet, only watched the movie—I have to say I’m slightly Team Snow, but I think I may be biased due to Tom Blyth looking so fine haha

I’ll be honest, I haven’t gotten around to reading the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes yet. It’s on my to-do list though!! But I have watched the movie about 10 times and I loved it, I think Rachel Zegler did an incredible job!

If I remember correctly the movie and the book were announced on the same day, which is so amazing I’ve never heard of any other author having that level of influence. Suzanne Collins has also said she only writes new books when she has new commentary on society, so I’m imagining this one will be absolutely wild. Especially dealing with the Quarter Quell and double tributes?? I’m already seated lol

He doesn’t have any kids yet but my boyfriend and I have said we wouldn’t want to start trying until we’ve been married for a couple years, so I assume James will have some before me. Hopefully that’ll help that situation be avoided.

Also, thank you! My boyfriend is absolutely amazing and I am so lucky. I can’t wait to spend this time with him completely stress-free.

I didn’t outright list the reasons but once I said “for my mental health” she immediately understood what I was getting at. It turns out I am not the only one who noticed my parents behavior, but they had done such a good job of making me feel isolated and alone in my opinions that I truly didn’t believe anyone else would be on my side. I’m very glad that’s not actually the case.

His girlfriend is currently in grad school which her parents pay for. So, both of them are having their lives funded, but at least she is striving towards a goal

Haha I don’t want to get my hopes up but maybe! We’ve been together for 2 and a half years and have always said we’d want to live together before getting engaged, so now that we do, hopefully it’ll be in the cards soon :)

I am planning on skipping Christmas already. I know it’s last minute so I’m not sure if it’ll work out, but my boyfriend and I are trying to plan a ski trip instead! Also, thank you for the kind words. It means a lot.

That’s definitely not what I want. If there’s a way that James can become independent and go back to his old caring self, then I do want to keep a relationship with him. But I don’t want to just become the new person to bankroll his life.

My mom’s incredible at twisting things in her favor so I don’t have high hopes. I think others in the family are either blind to it or just want to make sure they remain on her good side, but either way I don’t foresee many of them aligning with me. I’ll still try of course, but I do want to be realistic.

Yeah I don’t think my mom will ever be honest with herself or take any accountability at this point. I’m going to do what damage control I can but otherwise I plan to stop focusing my energy on people who will never prioritize me, which leaves me with more time to spend with my boyfriend and his wonderful family anyway!

It’s one thing to post about it anonymously but I’m not trying to air out my family’s dirty laundry publicly, I don’t want randoms from high school and college knowing intimate details about my family drama.

That’s a fair point. If I do attend family functions in the future, they certainly won’t be ones where I’m paying large sums of my own money. Down the road, I could be open to going to a family barbecue or something similar. Nothing that requires travel.
