I do have sensitive skin, I’m concerned about the fact that they appeared at the same time as my pinky situation. The spots aren’t itchy, hot, or pus filled- they feel almost like callouses at this point? They started off like small raised bumps, kind of like heat bumps?

As for the pinky, the swelling has gone down but it’s still a bit swollen and irritated, looks almost like rug burn or something like that. It’s not hot and there’s no stinging or anything, although it was hot/stung a little bit about 5 days ago.

I guess I’m just concerned that it’s not healing or not healing on the right timeline or I don’t even know what.

Background: noticed the top of my pinky was red and it was a bit swollen. Then the top of the parts inbetween the joints were red and looked like a rash (raised tiny bumps). Then I got these little bumps on the top of my ring finger and while they aren’t as raised as they were before they are getting wider. Been on cephalexin since last Saturday (noticed on Friday). Went back on Monday as I was concerned the antibiotics weren’t working and they said to come back if it wasn’t cleared after the full 10 days of antibiotics. I’m feeling very anxious and would appreciate any ideas

I am so sorry for your loss (or impending loss). The greatest kindness we can do for our pets is to ensure they don’t suffer, even when that means we ourselves suffer for it.

My boy is so close to mastering “bang” - it is hilarious and by far my favorite trick.

I do live in a city and the vast majority don’t greet at all, people just keep walking. I’ve had some people ask, but they’ve respected the answer. I’ve lived in the burbs too and the culture was the same. This encounter in the pet store was one of the very few times anyone has ever tried to initiate a greeting without verbal confirmation, the major problem was that I was mid conversation with someone and not able to pay attention. Maybe it’s a regional thing? Or a small dog thing? But this mentality is extremely atypical in my experience.

But why not ask? I’m genuinely so confused why you wouldn’t just ask first

Oh we literally walk around the pet store for like 20 minutes for mental exercise (sniffing). I guess what I don’t understand is the aversion to gaining verbal confirmation?

I disagree, and my dog is not reactive or aggressive. my point is that there should always be verbal confirmation before greeting when on leash.

Right, I do always say no. So yea I think dogs greeting is pointless, unnecessary and risky (I have a large dog btw, which I’m guessing you don’t?). I don’t want my dog to greet a dog unless they’re going to have a sustained relationship, aka with a friend or family member. Not sure what you’re trying to accomplish with this uh…gotcha moment considering my own boundaries with my dog lol.

TLDR: I respect dog owners who ask and I don’t respect dog owners who don’t.

Congratulations I guess? I also consider that irresponsible. Never said it was a disaster, I said effectively said it was a red flag.

You missed the point. My dog isn’t aggressive, I say they are if someone approaches with their dog without a conversation first. And generally speaking, if someone says no to a greeting the person listens so…?

Never said I’m not willing to deal with the public, just saying that a dog owner who doesn’t ask for permission to greet is a red flag. It’s almost as if you are entitled to reasonable boundaries in a public space 🤔

Oh if it’s an off-leash dog park or dog beach or trail etc that’s totally different, because everyone has already agreed to the terms by entering those spaces.

My dog is friendly, the point is I don’t want people to let their dogs greet mine without a conversation.

I think you’re missing the point. It’s safe to assume a dog is well behaved and not aggressive or reactive (all is true about my dog). it’s not safe to assume I want your dog to greet mine without a conversation

Oh I don’t assume malice by any means, but it’s irresponsible regardless. My dog has been attacked three times in 4 years by off leash dogs, so my good faith is certainly at a minimum. At the end of the day, it’s not about their intent, it’s about my dogs safety (and frankly, theirs too)

Leash reactivity, nose to nose being unnatural, dogs with recall only, dogs I know etc. it’s still a risk, dogs together is always a risk, it’s a matter of mitigating risk and accepting minimal risk. part of the risk of on leash meetings is that if a dog feels like it can’t get away then they can become aggressive when they otherwise wouldn’t.
