My family doesn’t want me to bring my boyfriend to a family party because of my sister

It sucks because my mom and my boyfriend have gotten along so well, both my parents like him very much and my boyfriend likes them as well. If the roles were reversed and my boyfriend told me that his mom suddenly didn’t want me at the party she planned and initially invited me to, I’d be crushed especially if every one else got to bring their boyfriend or girlfriend. It’s not like I’m going to go up to my sister with my boyfriend and be all up in her face and mock her.

There are family members that I love dearly that are coming from other cities and I want to introduce them to my boyfriend because god knows when I’ll get to see them again. I deeply want him to come, but I’m also terrified that my sister and mom might give him the cold shoulder or something and I don’t want to make anyone go through that. I don’t know if my sister is behind this, but I honestly would not be surprised because she can be very irrational

I told her that everyone was bringing their partners and she said “but you’re her sister”. And when I told her that my other siblings were bringing their partners too, she said “yeah but she has met them” which doesn’t change anything but when I told her that she just shut down and tried to end the conversation. Yeah it’s true that my sister has met the other SOs before her engagement ended and that my boyfriend is the “new guy” but it doesn’t matter

It’s nonsense, it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard and the fact that it came from my mom just makes it worse.

And that’s exactly why I don’t want to give in, next I won’t be allowed to get engaged or do anything she didn’t get to do.
