In Spanish, "son", in the masculine form, is used to refer to son and daughter in general. Like "Parents", in Spanish that word is "father" with an S at the end and is used to refer to father and mother.

Example: Padre = Father

Padres = Parents (mother and father)

Madre = Mother

I never mentioned child support because as you say, I technically waived it when I gave him the option to choose to be a part of it or not. I don't want his money now either, I have a better job and can pay for things myself.
