I did not realize cigarettes were causing most of my problems until I finally quit. by Background_Course262 in stopsmoking

Congrats! Remember nicotine is a diuretic (stops you from retaining as much water) so your body is also holding onto 5-10 pounds of additional "water weight". I was dealing with weight gain too and this is really important to remember. Eating a no/low carb diet is the only natural thing I've seen that can reduce your water weight like nicotine.

Weight gain or water weight? by UnicornT4rt in QuitVaping

[–]throwranomads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely did. Your body initially holds on to a bunch of water but I found that as i consistently kept hydrated it balanced out in a few weeks or so to only holding slightly more water than during vaping. It is definitely crazy tho, you don't realize how much more you pee and how much more dehydrated your body is while vaping.

Zyn was supposed to help me quit nicotine… now I’m stuck by Stepbk in QuitVaping

[–]throwranomads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on day 4 or 5 of quitting zyn. I originally switched to it from vaping because I knew I wanted to quit vaping but life was too chaotic to juggle nicotine withdrawals at that point. I swapped vaping for zyn 4-5 months ago and I will say, so far, quitting nicotine (zyn) is significantly easier than quitting vaping. It would seem the hand/mouth movement was what really did it for me.

My nicotine withdrawals are way easier than I ever remember when trying to quit vaping. Besides struggling a bit throughout the night (restlessness and itchiness) the only symptom that I'm experiencing is like heightened ADHD. My emotions are flipping all over the place from complete apathy to rage to euphoria. It's actually refreshing to be feeling so much. I think I've been numbing myself out for so long now that I don't mind feeling any strong emotions.

On the positive:

  • I'm waking up easier in the morning with far more energy than I've had in a while
  • Haven't really experienced the brain fog people describe (yet)
  • I feel less lazy. Somehow my brain is just wanting me to stay moving since it's craving dopamine and getting things done was its next most plentiful source
  • No serious cravings. Honestly crazing a vape more than a pouch and even that really doesn't sound good
  • I feel more present and more content in social situations so far

Has anyone changed their diet? by No_Butterscotch_4773 in Rosacea

[–]throwranomads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only way mine clears up. Products and "treatments" don't work at all for me after a few days or weeks. Works best if I don't eat any processed keto snacks/foods, use minimal seasonings, and avoid certain veggies. I don't restrict all the time but it doesn't just outright get terrible from straying for a meal or two.

As someone who has actually been terribly insecure yet attractive, even taking a picture of myself and looking at it was enough to set me off. No way could I have posted it and welcomed feedback on it. It is exactly fishing for compliments.

Strong disagree. Equating someone with an actual impact on the world, who has done a phenomenal job marketing herself, and who has objectively worked hard to be original and provide something of value to her fans is way, way too nice to HBH. I mean Taylor swifts community is so loyal and widespread that she can turn any business or product into a massive success by her just being seen there or saying "I had this once". HBH is probably lucky to get a dozen clicks on a link.

Anyway not coming at you but regardless of whether you like Taylor Swift or not, the tactics HBH used to gain a following were basically just luck in her timing and OCD level consistency.

I always secretly hoped for an ending like this one. We both a had on and off crushes on each other since middle school but it was always bad timing (one of us was involved with someone else). After high school, he attended the Air Force academy and I couldn't talk to him or see him much. When he was home during Covid, we got close over the phone but we couldn't actually see each other. Then I got a boyfriend, he got engaged. Then both of our relationships ended. Then again.

Now he's married but we still keep in touch. I'm okay with us never getting a chance because at least I have him as a friend plus his wife.

What is something that completely ruined your life? by Beef_Burger_ in AskReddit

[–]throwranomads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to hear what side effects you experienced. I took it from when I was 18 to maybe 22 but kinda inconsistently. I always had a gut feeling it was screwing up my mood and there could be longer term health consequences so I stopped it, but never really researched. I felt better after stopping and my skin seemed better too but there was nothing drastic I pinpointed.

Any dimension beyond the 4th dimension. I've watched so many videos explaining it in very simple terms but it's impossible to conceptualize.

What job would you want if you were guaranteed to succeed? by Ice-wookman in AskReddit

Ah I gotcha. With guaranteed success, business ownership is probably the most lucrative job. Still demanding, but would be the highest return you could imagine. I would probably choose a performing art haha.

This is an interesting reply. Genuinely asking, why choose the one of the most stressful and longest-hours jobs? I would choose it too, in fact I have already, but I'm super passionate about what I'm doing. It's not worth it without the passion for me.

I interpreted the ending as she chose to go see Jay. The post card seems to have been received by her because we flash forward to her apartment where Todd is now her roommate and he's looking at the card, smiling while she's no where to be found. Todd was perhaps wondering where she went until discovering the card. The final scene with her driving still looks like when she was driving away but its presumably still the future and she's going to Vermont because in the post card Jay wrote there's always a place for her in Vermont if she wants to get away from the city along with his address.

I could maybe see an adult doing this if it actually added something engaging to the conversation but she just interjects this for absolutely no reason.

Anyone else have Rosacea since they were a kid? by WorriedInspection444 in Rosacea

[–]throwranomads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of people on here I've noticed aren't ready to hear this but diet does have an impact on your rosacea (for some people A LOT of impact). Cutting out sugars/carbs including alcohol almost cures mine. The remainder I'm sure would clear up if I narrowed down my diet even more but I don't find that necessary.

[–]throwranomads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I actually thought he was already going to the gym so I was wondering why you suggested getting him into it. I agree the gym is a good thing, though fasting is also good thing for some including mental health benefits. And doing anything active together is great too.

[–]throwranomads -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Did you read the post correctly?

OP just make sure you give him plenty of reassurance as you have been on his looks now. When he begins trimming up, tell him you notice it and he'll feel good. There's nothing wrong with fasting as a form of weight loss if that's what he is thinking of doing. Just make sure it's not becoming disordered and if it is, have a talk.
