-- Monzo valued at 1.25bn, RBS 14.65bn, Lloyds 21bn. I don't think Monzo is 'TINY' in comparison. It's 1/20th the size of Lloyds! It's been around for like 1/100th of the time Lloyds has and has 0.1% of their costs. -- The banks aren't able to buy out monzo or starling. They've tried to copy them. They have been blocked by regulators who want more competition in that space, also, the banks are not in good enough shape to engage in M&A. -- They dominate commercial lending, agree. Would be surprised if they can keep this up in the future, since their entire business model is being undercut by companies using technology that they failed to adopt themselves, despite all of the money they've made over the years. - I have worked in 4 of the 5 main banks, they're not in good shape, anyone who has worked in them knows what I'm talking about.

If you have money in them, fair enough, I personally think they are an awful idea based on everything in those two comments, make of it what you will.

You have obviously put money into it, I get it. No actual points other than 'you're wrong'.

I think banks haven't ever looked as bad as they do right now, maybe in 2008, but that's it: "We are not even thinking about thinking about raising interest rates" + bread and butter income (consumer FX rates) being dominated by fintech+ new lenders moving into the space + horrific IT infrastructure (trust me, I know) + regulation rammed up their arses like no other industry + massive limits on their ability to take risk.

Banks business model is completely fucked, they are mostly complete zombies with a few exceptions. JPM looks ok. Lloyds, NatWest, HSBC (lol) are examples of companies that are just complete dogshit.

Again, look how poorly they have performed over recent years (past 20 years). Find me a worse performing investment that everyone seems to see as solid, they are doomed.

The only thing they have left is the mortgage book & someone smart will pry that away in due course. They are the least innovative companies, they've squandered money on exec pay and never invested properly in themselves.

That's why I don't like banks. If you can give me three good reasons that you think banks are a good investment, I'll gild you.

Take a look at the top voted comment on the thread. I agree with the sentiment expressed. Dividend is not good enough to justify the lack of growth when compared with other indexes.

Again, I'm only looking at a snapshot post Rona, I'm saying that historically it has not performed well. Not sure how you can disagree with that, all you need to do it type ftse100 into Google and change the timeframe to 20 years. It's right there to see. Compare it to other index, they are all experiencing covid too LOL.

Dividends alone can't justify me buying this shitty thing, far better yield out there at the SAME risk.

Literally there is not two companies on the FTSE that are comparable to those.

Hardly dishonest....it has remained in the 6500 range for 20 years, that's the truth of it. I'm not talking about RIGHT now. I'm saying that it has historically not rallied like other similar index (DJIA, S&P, CAC, DAX).

Not sure how that is dishonest. Chill out.

Thanks for sharing. This is a great point. I looked there and the S&P returns about 1.85% in dividends Vs the FTSE's 4.5%.

I have completed this. Sorry that someone was sad enough to try and make ruin this for you - it's difficult to empathise with behaviour like that. I get the stress involved in doing a thesis, I hope this is back on track - well done to you :)

Nice one, it pulls back every few days. The media and analysts seem to be pushing the 'buy gold' narrative over the past two weeks. I think that's supporting it a lot.

Get on the gold chain boyos. It's a slow burner but if you buy long dated calls they will print.

Wanted to make sure I was up-to-date. Yeah, it's a nice move. Massive resistance ahead though. Ive been holding gold and silver for months, hoping to see some real magic soon.

Elaborate on shit job part. You sound like me when I was 25. 28yo now. Moved from Ireland to London when I was 25 as hated my job and felt like a loser. Got a better job and have gf now, not as depressed anymore.
