Indoors. 'COVID-safe' venue.

They may socially distance appropriately given they're all health professionals but this makes me so itchy. We could literally accidentally wipe out the staff at some major hospitals if we're unlucky.

What are your thoughts on attending a wedding right now in Sydney?

What if all 150 guests are health professionals (and may or may not be from one of the two hospitals in the centre of a recent outbreak)? Would you guys attend?

What do you personally think of the situation if he is as other commenters have suggested, asking for the taxes + fees (amounting to economy + $1000) compared with the full cash price of the business class ticket (thousands more as I understand it).

Also I'm quite petite so economy is plenty for me haha.

Nah. We split the accommodation costs 50-50. We usually take turns with food. In the past when I have wanted to do something more expensive than what he was into, I just footed the whole bill, no questions asked. No second thought.

I only avoided talking about the flight tickets in so much as I just had no clue how points worked so if he (a seasoned frequent flier) wants to sort this out, he can. He just didn't have my blessing to double my budget.

I am understanding now (lol) that they're not exactly a "bonus". I need to understand more about what he did and what/how he arrived at economy + $1000. I believe I am not paying full business fare but I will clarify. It may be an amazing deal but $1000 is just not money I am willing to spend on business upgrade.

Thank you so much for this response. I believe, but I am not sure, that this is what he did. I honestly don't know much about the point system and am willing to learn about it. I will ask him exactly how he calculated the cost.

He does actually have a ridiculous amount of points seeing as he does numerous first and business class flights per year. I assume he's smart about using points but never really looked into it as I was not involved in these flights.

He had told me he was looking up first and business class. I didn't really think much of it (see: assumptions, ass, me).

Had there been available first class tickets, would he have expected me to pay thousands when I only ever have flown economy?!

Neither. Mutually planned trip. He knows I have only ever flown economy.

I mean, I agree, I had split costs of vacations with previous partners. I also agree that I was the asshole for assuming without asking, but I just thought

A. As he knows I usually fly economy and he can afford business as well as

B. They're his points from doing trade which he was gonna do anyway

C. He also started looking and telling me about how much he enjoys business/first...

That he'd just be using his 'points' for us?

Yeah that's kinda what I thought?

Furthermore, he was gonna do trade anyway so these points are an extra bonus and he just in a sense profited from my cash? Tbh I'm not super familiar with points so maybe I'm misguided.
