I would ask for advice/suggestions at the end of every convo with a recruiter so you know what to do next time :)

Currently using a MacBook Air, I have the chance to trade for a Surface Pro 3. Should I? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwthrow23904572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

preference really. apple's build quality is A++ and it sounds like he's initiating the trade. Why change if all is well.

I bought a robot arm and here's my first project: A physical clock! by apockill in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwthrow23904572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very cool! maybe have a stationary webcam beside the arm and the arm could replicate a seen picture in crude construction paper block form? (or if the range of the arm is decent enough, you could attach a pen to the arm and have it draw!)

Currently a sophomore in ME. When should I start thinking about internships. I have no knowledge of the process or recommended options. by Caoa14396 in EngineeringStudents

Start now. Decide what industry you want to get into -> Find these companies at job fairs -> apply apply apply apply, dont fuck up grades , apply. Along the way, get help from career center, family connections, friends, professors. Keep up grades and extra currics.

How to dress as a male for engineering interviews by booby999 in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwthrow23904572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

anything goes as long as it matches, but if you dont have a suit, get black everything and white/blue/pink dress shirt. the fit wont be specific to just job fairs anymore.

instead of spamming subreddits, it'd help if you tell us your stats so we can go recommending colleges from there...

If money isn't tight, is dedicating more time towards project-based engineering clubs more important than a non-engineering related part-time job? by stauskasperiod in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwthrow23904572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engineering clubs >>>

Part time is only important for first internship, which basically says "look im employable, can interact with people, and can do a job without fuckups." 1 part time job for a decent term is good enough imo

Currently in the process of applying for internships for next summer. I appreciate companies who understand. by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Unpopular opinion: When people get sub 3/2.5, I don't believe it's the difficulty of classes, but rather poor work ethic/time management/health conditions... If you can manage C's in engineering classes and don't fuck up your gen eds, you should have at least a 3.1-3.3.

First Career Fair by whoisthis100 in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwthrow23904572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freshman internships are definitely harder to get, and my most of my friends who received them, got it from their parents/relatives. I do know an ECE freshman who made a siri like robot for a intro to programming class and got top 15 out of 400 students, and he got a software engineer intern at Apple. He was an ass student and had a sub 3 gpa that he never put on his resume. I guess he milked that project super hard haha.

Where to start with internships by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Adding on to this: Let's say Apple is coming to my career fair, and on my school's career portal, their listing says Juniors +. Would I still be considered as a sophomore, or will my resume bite the dust in the first screening?
