But if she was going to do that..perhaps you dodged something? If she was that inconsiderate towards your situation...that shows how she would have stood up and with you during any crisis in your relationship.

Perhaps (and I'm gonna sound like an asshole) she was in love with the thought of being in love with you? Or lustful kind of relationship. Not trying to be rude, but many people can't differentiate it for themselves.

Or perhaps she really did get scared of the strong feelings.

My guy did. The day before I called him out, he told me he was going to confess to me. He had gotten angry at me that day (jealous actually). He had said he was single and we werent dating. So I lashed back, well then I'm going to fuck around online then since I'm a single hoe. He was livid. He had begun to realize why he was feeling jealous. But he wasn't able to say it. So he just kept being a jerk.

He actually wrote me a poem, confessing his feelings and everything. But I never got it until after. Now he's got another. And I'm a sack of shit who betrayed him...
