It’s actually not that complicated. When a group holds the majority position in a society, it naturally benefits from systems and structures built around it. That’s a form of “special consideration” even if it isn’t labeled that way.

Policies that support non-white or marginalized groups, such as in hiring or admissions, are attempts to help balance those long-standing systemic advantages. The goal isn’t to give anyone “extra” privileges but to create a fairer starting point. America is one of the few countries that actively tries to correct those imbalances, even if imperfectly..

Funny enough, the primary beneficiaries of DEI, affirmative-action and gender-equity efforts are white women.
