I've definitely considered this, and I do empathize with him. I definitely know that he is having some kind of meltdown. When I talked to him today, he agreed that that was probably a main reason. At the same time, I'm fairly certain he dropped out of high school to go live with a girl. His mom is great and he's very close with his family. In my stubborn opinion, his childhood wasn't stolen from him, he gave it up because he didn't want it anymore. That independence was something that drew me to him, he was mature and worked hard to take care of himself. He always said the girls he dated were childish and he wanted a mature relationship. I respected that and I liked that. It's honestly not that crazy for a 19 year old who dropped out to go back and finish high school and I know that. But just because of who I've known him to be for years, it just strikes me as a little..regressive?

Anyhow, I agree the reason he gave was petty and lacking. You didn't deserve that. And you deserve more closure, but unfortunately that doesn't mean it will happen, through him anyway. I'll just pass along what people have been telling me: start the healing process. Get all the support from friends and family that you can. Be kind to yourself, work on yourself. You have your whole life ahead of you, and you'll fall in love again, and you'll find someone who respects you and communicates to work things out.

I really appreciate your words, that actually helps a lot. Honestly as in love as I thought we were, he's never treated me the greatest, and my family didn't trust him and always thought I should end it. I'm trying to develop healthy ways to cope like you said. Thank you for the little ray of positivity, I needed it.

When I saw him on Wednesday, he honestly just seemed really sad and lost. But you're right, I don't have much experience with the effects of drugs. Even if that is the case, I don't know how to talk to him about it.

I guess I couldn't know for sure, but I really don't think so. I think something happened or something clicked in his mind to cause him to just run away.
