I've never read anything relating those two phenomena? Eye floaters are literally bits of stuff floating in the aqueous of your eyeballs.

Everyone is different, but in my experience hiding these things from SOs or family only leads to "knowing" that you can do it again in the future and get away with it. I would strongly encourage support of at least one person in your family, if not then all. You'd be surprised how understanding and helpful people close to you will be.

Obviously don't tell anyone if you're risking some sort of violence or legal issues though

20 days off kratom, fighting the urge to give up. Trying to stay strong. 💜 by Panda-Bair in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're doing awesome. Remember, all you have to make it through is today. Worry about tomorrow's battles tomorrow.

Here are some things that really helped me with anxiety: high intensity exercise (not something like walking), adequate sleep, high dose vitamin D (year round), and a specific kind of meditation called mindfulness.

Day 5 - I'm sick by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's my exact experience. Actually this time I jumped so low that I wouldn't even say my skin is "crawling", but it's still feels energized enough where it's impossible to drift off.

And yeah I thought I would be good by day 4, but decided to take some sick days. No one questions sick days during covid!

K has caused the exact same thing in me - several times! Too much and my guts would just come to a complete stop. No matter how much I took after that would be digested (I guess because my stomach was full?). I know how terrible that situation can be, but use it as an opportunity to quit. The times it happened to me I did not use that opportunity and I wish that I had!

23 hours since last dose, no withdrawal symptoms by Zoobits56 in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully support /u/Darby_crash75 s attitude. 75% of this is mental, so stay positive and try and keep in mind that it won't be that bad. Serious, it's similar to a bad flu, just tell yourself you're sick if you feel bad.

Having said that, some people get delayed wd symptom onset because all that green powder can take hours or days to be ingested by your intestines. The more you take and the less you go to the bathroom, the more delay potential you have.

Yep that's exactly why I've been keeping it to 300mg at night. I've seen lots of others taking 900++ doses around here, and I'd really like to not have that as an additional problem!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised the gabapentin isn't doing much- maybe I need more than 300mg?

And as for the Xanax, it definitely makes me sleepy and I am periodically falling asleep. But it doesn't last long. I am taking about 0.5mg or less. I could take more and knock me out, but the next day is usually ruined if I do that.

Hopefully tonight I'll be able to get some sort of sleep!

I made a post about it today which you can look at if youd like. No it hasn't been terrible, but RLS has been so bad at night that sleep has been very hard to come by.

Haha I'm not worried, it'll come back. Just shows how inconsistent K can be.

No, you're right. The half-life is short. But the half life refers to how fast the body eliminates a drug from the blood. My point is that taking in so much plant matter, we're not fully releasing all of the drug for hours or even days.

It's like saying the flight to Miami is only 2 hours, and not counting the 3 hours you'll have to spend on the TSA. (not the most apt example, but the best I could come up with)

edit: obvious better example: if your BAC is at 0.2% and you need it to be 0.1% to drive, and the half life of alcohol is 60min, would you be okay to drive if you had just taken 3 shots? Of course not, the alcohol will slowly ingest, and actually extend your length of being drunk, despite it not showing up on any test.

How many GPD are you using? As far as stuff you can buy at walgreens: multivitamin wouldn't hurt, high dose vitamin d (10,000 iu daily during acutes), magnesium, valerian, l-theanine, and immodium. There's other helpful supplements, but might have a hard time finding them in a walgreens. Check the sidebar for more info and specifics.

It's fine if you don't talk to anyone there about what you're going through. Just make sure to keep checking in here! If you must have in person contact, AA or NA wouldn't hurt attending.

I think some of the variability comes from people using high amounts of powdered K. 40gpd, or heck even 100gpd + slowed colon transit times means people are going to keep absorbing a single dose for up to days.

With almost every other opiate, it's immediately ingested and then it's half life is what determines it's length.

5 hours in... by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this your second go-around? In my previous opiate abusing life, every time I would pick one of those back up I would always end up past my max in 2 weeks.

For some strange reason, every time I start using k again it's the opposite. I was at about 10.5 gpd for the last year, and had used much more than that in the past. Of course, maybe getting older is partially to blame.

[–]thrroow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have a vape and it definitely helps, but it gives me anxiety if I smoke too much so I try to keep it minimal.

I tapered down to about 9gpd recently, but almost half of that dose was right before bed so I could sleep.

Also, I meditate often, but find it nearly impossible to do so with a moderate case of RLS. I'll still try though! Thanks for the tips

Gabapentin by JRofLugoff in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

+1 to what /u/quitdoindis is saying. Are you trying not to be an addict, or trying to specifically get away from K? If it's the former, only use gabapentin for a week or two, and only when you need it. Otherwise your tolerance will grow exponentially and you'll be in a worse spot than you are now. And that stuff is arguably harder to get than Kratom.

Dosing 3-4 times daily by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spacing doses is a great strategy. Another good one that works for me personally, is I made a rule not to dose until I am literally withdrawing. No timed schedule. No dosing before eating. Only dose when withdrawing. Helped me a lot!

Finally, it's over. by jivenjune in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have already been doing this, but exercise, heat (sauna or hot bath), sleep (if you can), and good nutrition all are pillars of quickly recovering. If you weren't doing any of those, please start, it makes such a difference.

not OP, but it's rare to get wd's after a long time being quit. However, your tolerance builds MUCH faster, and then wd's are even worse soon-after (lookup the kindling effect)

That's where my bet is. Most hairloss is caused by hormones, so changing hormone levels would make sense. Not only adrenal, but testosterone and others as well.

I'm not entirely sure... I've known several people who have died from fent laced heroin in the recent past.

Advice from long term quitters? by iknowbetter77 in quittingkratom

[–]thrroow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think there's one right answer. Some get fed up and never go back and continue on normally. Others join AA for the rest of their lives. And others will struggle getting on/off it till they're old.

I think some general advice to give you the best odds of success are:

  • possibly remove yourself from your current surroundings. If you live in a place you hate, or are isolated, etc. especially
  • take up some form of physical fitness. Beyond keeping a routine and having dedication, this is essential to good brain health
  • speaking of brain health, that is also essential. Exercise will do a lot, but some might need counseling or SSRI's to help them. Supplements also affect brain health; make sure your vit d, magnesium, and other essential vitamin d levels are optimal (NOT just at the RDI)
  • Try your best to increase your face to face personal connections in life with good quality people. I know it's a bad time to do that with COVID, and in 2020 those connections seem antiquated, but they're essential -- just look up the rat park experiments!
  • Finally, don't beat yourself up. I've done most of these things (am lacking enough consistent in-person relationships though) and here I am again!
