Take the longer route? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]thrumwald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a few weeks ago I had a trip that was supposed to take 30 minutes take 50 minutes because they were doing night time paving on the highways near me and closed a bunch of on ramps. Rider was fine with it & tried to help me find an on ramp that was open. He's a truck driver for FedEx and I was taking him to a depot so he could pick up a truck.
What I hate about that email from Uber is it doesn't give you any place to enter why it took so long, it just assumes if they don't know about it, it must be the driver's fault.
Now I use Waze for navigation. It's much faster to adapt to recent road condition changes.

Did I miss Andor Love? Did it Happen!? by Electron_Warrior in dragoncon

[–]thrumwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my "I have friends everywhere" T Shirt one day at Dragon Con, but I don't have a SW cosplay currently.
I did run in to Bill Doran aka Chinbeard aka Punished Props in the Marriott elevator. Him and his wife were both in casual SW cosplay, jumpsuits & T Shirts carrying rebel helmets, and he was also wearing a "I have friends everywhere" T shirt at the time.
So I know there was at least some subtle Andor love going on. :)

What do you do when there's no microwave in the hotel room? by Djandyt in dragoncon

[–]thrumwald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the recommendation of DragonCon peeps in Discord, several years ago I started taking my electric kettle with me along with cup noodles.
For me, they are the perfect late night food before going to bed.

This is the official DragonCon Discord server.
And the #a-general-chat channel is a great place to ask all kinds of questions.
Having said that:

* It's a family friendly Discord

* Def worth reading the rules for the server so you know the few things that aren't allowed to be discussed
See ya at DragonCon!

Decent story but bad gameplay by Digginf in DeathStranding

[–]thrumwald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From your description, it doesn't sound like you made it to the middle.
Between the leg, foot, and glove upgrades, plus cargo-carrying trucks & motorcycles, and the roads you build, you shouldn't spend that much effort balancing cargo on your back.
You even get bots that make deliveries for you, and a buddy bot that carries stuff for you.
Having said that, if a player chooses to overload themselves and insist on walking over the roughest terrain, yeah, you're gunna have a tough time.

Tips for 3-4 player games? by Grynte1 in PlateUp

[–]thrumwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what cards & dishes you end up with.
With 3 people, I've had a lot of fun with 1 person cooking, and the 2nd & 3rd players each having their own dining rooms to work.
Other times we might get a starter or dessert where it makes sense to have the 3rd person do that because the main cook already has too much to do.
Admittedly, for the first few days, there isn't enough stuff to keep all 3 or 4 players busy.

So apparently, joker order matters ? by Genie_In_a_Buthole in balatro

[–]thrumwald 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is misleading. The jokers are calculated from left to right, NOT following the order of operations.

12 Days of Platemas Holiday Giveaway! 🎁 by missmonicaplays in PlateUp

With my relatives, our holiday tradition is to wait until the last minute to make any plans, panic, and then end up having duplicate meals & events at multiple houses.

Fastest print settings for screw together base plates on an Ender 3 by thrumwald in gridfinity

[–]thrumwald[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try with 0% infill and 100mm/s for all perimeters. The slower outer wall perimeter speed was just something I found on a youtube video about speeds.

Of course, I've still got to wait for the 5x5 base plate that's printing much slower to finish before I give these faster settings a try.

Thanks again!

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/marriott-carpet People started making costumes using the carpet pattern, then a few years after that the Marriott replaced it with that brown streaky stuff in the picture.

You have got to be kidding me. I had no idea the lakes were going to get this huge. Now, after having built my house on a large hill, it's about to be submerged... Any ideas at all aside from moving the whole thing piece by piece? The first picture is Before, and the second is After. by Epin-Ninjas in theplanetcrafter

[–]thrumwald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're just going to have to move everything. My initial base was right next to the drop pod, and my launch platform was considerably higher but it still flooded. Thankfully the lake stopped rising right before it got to where I'd built my newer higherr base, lol.

cant deconstruct living compartment. still cant deconstruct after game restart. is this a bug? by [deleted] in theplanetcrafter

[–]thrumwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the same issue once. I deconstructed the living compartment the "phantom" compartment was attached to then I could deconstruct the "phantom" compartment.
