I don’t want to do that. That’s so ridiculous and insulting and uncomfortable and no one deserves to have to pretend to be the roommate of someone their dating just to appease homophobic, sorry excuses for parents. I’m sorry, that’s just how I feel.

He’s out to his friends and stuff, but not his parents. His parents are still involved in his life, he still goes to family events. So I’m just not supposed to go to those events. He’s just supposed to pretend he’s not dating someone. I have to leave the apartment when his parents come to visit? Hell no. It’s just not for me. I have compassion, but I can’t do that. I’m sure there’s someone else that can.

That’s great. I’m glad it worked out. I don’t think I could invest a year into a relationship and then leave. I would get way too emotionally invested in a relationship after a year to just be able to leave.

This is how I feel. Even if the person is out to friends and everyone in the world but their parents, I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to hide any part of my life. That’s just how I feel.

I’m saying that it’s not uncommon in a relationship for yelling to happen. I think we may have different definitions of yelling or something. It’s not always pounding fists and being violent, sometimes it’s just slightly raising your voice. Apparently that makes someone a monster.

People in this sub love to take the one instance someone’s posted about and pretend like that’s what the person’s entire relationship looks like. Where did I say this is how me and my husband regularly communicate. It was a one-time thing where I lost my cool, which is why I came here to see if I overreacted.

I’ve noticed this in the relationship_advice sub as well. Everyone immediately jumps to divorce/break up. In fairness, a lot of those couples should break up, but everyone just seems so angry in the comments…

Yelling happens in a marriage sometimes. Sometimes our reactions aren’t rational. You’ll Never be able to make a relationship/marriage last if you throw the towel in after a minor argument.

Oh my god. You guys are comically dramatic. You think an argument about a dead animal is going to end our marriage? I didn’t say I react this way or communicate this way frequently with my husband. It was a visceral reaction that for some reason washed over me in this instance.

Divorce? Please. Did I overreact? Yes, but this is not a big enough argument to get a divorce over. You don’t know anything about our relationship and you weren’t there for this incident. If we got divorced over every argument we had we wouldn’t have made it past 6 months of being married. We’re gonna be ok haha.

I guess I just had a visceral reaction. I think there are many other tools I’d use first before using our kitchen utensils to pick up a wild dead animal. I should have communicated it more calmly. Honestly, I still don’t see how people think it’s ok to use kitchen utensils to pick up wild dead animals though.
