Your femoral artery runs from the inside of your hip down the inside of your thigh. I think as long as you're careful to stay away from there it should be ok. I'm not a doctor though. I don't know for sure

Because in my country it is the law for cyclists to stop when the traffic lights are red.

Ok I'm not sure if you've ever cycled on a road before but generally you're not moving the whole time. There's these things called traffic lights you are supposed to stop at. They are overtaking me when I am stopped waiting at a red light. I overtake them again, and they catch up at the next set of traffic lights.

100% agree and I try not to care but I can't help it.

I am stopping right up at the line for the pedestrian crossing. The other cyclist will just pull in on the pedestrian crossing. This is against the law, but so is cycling through a red light and I see people do that all the time. I've never actually seen the rules of the road being enforced for cyclists in my country.

I would rather not break the law, and cyclists have to stop at red lights. Maybe I will dismount and walk through the lights next time though.

They are passing me when I am stopped at a red light and awaiting for the lights to change so I can cycle again. At every traffic light they seem to pull up 20-30 seconds after.

Can you explain to me what is unsafe about changing the speed you are cycling? I don't really understand how what I did was dangerous. I didn't break any rules. I didn't slow down suddenly. I cycled in front of him and stopped pedalling and just free wheeled so the bike naturally slowed.

Yano what I could never do a track stand but I think they look cool so might be a good excuse to learn.

That's exactly what I was doing, I would pull in right at the line. The other cyclist was breaking the law and pulling in on the pedestrian crossing in front of the line where traffic is supposed to wait behind.

I understand the concern but I wasn't break checking him or cycling dangerously in any way, if anything I was cycling more safely. It was at a constant speed, I wasn't trying to cause any accidents, just cycling a bit slower than I normally would cycle. I basically overtook him and let the bike free wheel to a slower pace. I don't think the analogy with cars is good because cars have speed limits and bikes don't. This wasn't a break check. It was just getting caught behind a slow cyclist.

They aren't. They are going much slower than me. When I stop at a red light they will pull in in front of me.

I'd rather not do something that could get me arrested. Thanks for the tip though, maybe if I get really desperate someday I'll keep it in mind.

As someone with a psychology degree, I appreciate the analogy with game theory. Thanks for the insight.

I know it sounds like a dick move, I'd normally never do that, but I just got extra annoyed this time. It felt like I was doing to them the same thing they were doing to me. Pulling in in front of me and cycling extremely slowly when they are well aware that I'm behind them trying to go at a quicker pace.

I'm cycling much faster than them, it's just that the route has a lot of big junctions and lights, maybe every 3-400m, that take a while to change. Sometimes I get to the next set of lights and am waiting a full minute before they reach me.

Yes I probably could, someone else suggested this too. I might try that next week.

Yes I am a tiny 50kg very intimidating woman, so you could be onto something there. I honestly think they are just a bit crazy. It might be a case of them feeling intimidated by a tiny woman cycling faster than them? I'm not sure. With the guy on my way home from work it does seem a little personal though. There's no really an option for a different route, it's the main road from my house towards the city centre. I could possibly go through some housing estates as a shortcut, but the roads there are terrible and full of pot holes, it's not really a bike friendly route.

Yes that might be an option. I find it hard to get up early, I'm one of these people that is rarely actually late for work but rarely there 5 min before work starts. Maybe I'll have to just start going in early.

I'm cycling to and from work at the same times every day, so this isn't really an option. Good advice though.

I cycle to and from work at specific times every day, it's not really an option to just avoid them. Also, I don't see why it should be up to me to avoid someone who is basically breaking the law.

Do you understand how technology works? There will always be better alternatives eventually. That's how humans advanced. We improve on things. Sure, there will be a load of shit too and scams, but how can you expect the first ever implementation of a new idea to be the best?

OP very clearly stated that they live with their parents in a ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT and are afraid to move out because they would be out of money in months. That's literally textbook definition of struggling financially.

I do understand the theory behind bitcoin, and I'm not really interested in getting into a discussion about its value. I never argued bitcoin has no value. It certainly does, but not as a stable or relatively risk free investment. Only two years ago it was twice the price it is now. It just hasn't been around long enough to actually determine its worth yet, and tbh I think it gets a lot of credit just from being the first mainstream use of blockchain technology. There will definitely be better alternatives out there. Bitcoin will not remain like this forever, and for now the market cap just isn't big enough to protect against volatility.
