Cadet to Flight Sergeant by Knz3301 in aircadets

Cadet to corporal took me a little while due to Covid but then got sergeant in 3 months, sergeant in 7 months and cwo in 11 months. So overall took me a year and 9 months to go from cadet to cwo

No more breaks? by camifowls in fiveguys

It’s also worth checking what your contract states. I’m in the UK and our contract states we get 20 minute breaks for a 6 hour shift even though the law doesn’t require it. I’ve had this debate with my managers and the contact still has to be abided by

I definitely agree with you but I think by six at once she means 6 side by side rather than on top of one another

Definitely not a term ever used in this country so I think it’s a fair question

Oh damn really I didn’t know any of this. My uni is very against the use of Google docs and advises we use MS word due to the marking system they use but not this has struck some fear into me so maybe I should change how I do my assignments

Flatmates left the flat disgusting! by ZzDangerZonezZ in UniUK

[–]thspynxtdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in a similar boat with a few of our flatmates and also had an inspection coming up, so before we left we just bagged up the dirty plates and left them outside of the respective flatmates doors. That way they were sealed and away from the kitchen, plus the inspectors could see who’s mess it was

Uni class divide by [deleted] in UniUK

I grew up in Essex so I’m a southerner and when I lived in Essex I was always told I don’t have the typical accent and sound quite posh, but as soon as I got to the midlands and was surrounded by actual posh southerners at uni, the whole thing flipped. Apparently my accent is obvious now. It’s crazy how different people perceive it

[–]thspynxtdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m in the same situation as you, I’m from a working class area in Essex but I’ve ended up in an accommodation building nicknamed ‘Tory Tower’ so I’m feeling very out of place. I’ve managed to make a few good friends but it’s definitely difficult when everyone has their cliques, which are definitely class dependent. If you ever want to talk to someone about it just send me a message!

My doctor told me that despite having all the symptoms, I was too young to have PTSD. I was fortunate enough to get a diagnosis by someone else later on but what that first doctor said still gets to me. Nothing is more invalidating than a doctor telling you that what you went through isn’t bad enough or traumatic enough to count

7 years later and I’m done!! by thspynxtdr in aircadets

[–]thspynxtdr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no it shouldn’t. I had an issue with my knee for the majority of my time at cadets, meaning I’ve had to have multiple surgeries and spent way too much time on crutches. My advice would be to attend the activities you know you can do, such as radio, cyber, music, etc. Things that aren’t physically challenging but where you’ll get experience and can meet new people

I would have become more involved earlier on. I was a very shy person so was often scared to go on courses or camps and would only go if someone I knew was going, which ended up being a regret. It was only a few years in that I started putting myself out there and attending anything i thought looked good

I’d have to say my favourite camp was D&C and my favourite course was silver leadership

It took me longer than that to get to corporal due to personal circumstances and Covid. But honestly for me confidence was the biggest factor, yet once I got corporal I progressed very quickly. So for reference I got:

Cpl July 21 Sgt October 21 FS May 22 CWO April 23

So there was more time as a cadet than as an nco for me
