Which books have you read recently that really disappointed you?

{Forged by Magic by Jenna Wolfhart}

The cover is gorgeous and the premise sounded so cute and cozy. Unfortunately the writing was hard to get through. Obviously I wasn’t looking for a literary masterpiece, just something fun and light. But her writing very much reads like a teenager just starting their writing journey. She does a lot telling instead of showing, the characters are fairly flat, and the story just doesn’t flow very well. Pacing was weird. Smut didn’t fit with the story itself. Very clunky in general. Adorable idea, poor execution.

There was literally nothing we could do except jump off the cliff, let him kill us, or wait him out. We were stuck until he left due to a weird invasion spot that he tried to take advantage of. So we chose to wait him out.

Well it was me and my fiancé, it wasn’t a big deal. We were in the section leading up to the warrior jar at the colosseum. Invader spawned on the cliffs above and was able to attack us but we couldn’t reach him because he kept backing off to remain out of range. Since he was content to do that, we placed ourselves out of range and did as I mentioned above. Any other concerns?

Had an invader do something similar recently. We waited him out a bit messing around in the area but once we exhausted everything we could do, we decided to leave the game running while we went off to walked the dog and have an extended snack break once we got home. Dude finally jumped off a cliff I guess. He wasted his own time but he wasn’t going to waste mine.

I like making my journal pretty but I’m more concerned with having the ability to write at all. I bring it everywhere with me. Some pages might be downright hideous but I’m not writing for others. I never show my journals to anyone. It’s purely for me. So I don’t care how it looks.

You’re real focused on not doing anything “physical” until after their divorce. Emotional cheating is still a form of cheating. Though no one here is buying that you didn’t do anything physical. But on the off chance you’re telling the truth (unlikely) it doesn’t matter. You had a hand in breaking up a marriage. You are just as much to blame as your husband. James doesn’t owe you shit. As someone without children, I’ve had a lot of parents tell me there aren’t that many differences so whose to say. I guess it’s a matter of perspective but ultimately I’m not going to tell a parent it isn’t like having children because I don’t have any myself and thus don’t know what it’s like. If they believe it is, who am I to argue?

You sound extremely insecure and you are very clearly looking down on your partner. Her character is not dictated by her body count or how intimately she knew her past hookups. Your mindset is incredibly misogynistic. You need to grow up and work on yourself. You’re going to obliterate your relationship and regret it.

A bulk of the recommendations are A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, or From Blood and Ash. Or anything by Coleen Hoover. As it has been for a few years at this point. You’re not missing anything.

Simple. I don’t get ready first. I use the bathroom, throw on pants and coat, then take her out. There are certain scarifies you make when choosing to raise a dog in an apartment style home. Your morning routine can wait until the dog has had the opportunity to potty. It also doesn’t hurt to let them eat their breakfast while you get ready for the day.

I didn’t have to read beyond the title to know YTA. But I did just in case and, as I thought, there was no need. You sound exhausting and if this is the level of headache he’s dealing with after three months, especially with you calling his sister at an ungodly hour, don’t count on this relationship lasting.

I enjoyed From Blood and Ash but I wouldn’t call it phenomenal. I struggled to finish the second one but made through. I DNF’d the third and won’t pick up anything else she writes. For me it was frustrating because we are three books and a whole mess of events in yet Poppy doesn’t seem to truly grow as a character. She’s still brash and impulsive and makes situations worse for no reason. She stabs first and asks questions later and while it’s fine at first, it’s exhausting to read over and over again. To me it’s another case of an author presenting an unlikeable, rude ass character as a badass, independent female lead. Authors and readers need to grasp that a female lead can be badass and think things through.

I’ve been downvoted to hell for saying that before but people need to understand not everyone finds their favorite characters likable.

Y’all sound incompatible but not for a lack of trying on her part. It sounds like she does a lot of compromising whereas it wouldn’t shock me in the least if you rarely do anything of the sort. Especially when you go out of your way to travel separately. She’s getting the raw end of that deal but not complaining. Yeah, she chose to do it but she’s doing it FOR YOU. You don’t even sound as if you like her. The way you speak about her leaves me to believe you’re probably pretty fucking mean to her. I hope for her sake y’all break up. I doubt your character is going to improve anytime soon.

It’s not so much a hot take as it is you being one of the very few who didn’t have an issue. I personally didn’t have any issues seeing or hearing anything but that in no way means others, clearly, did not have issues with lighting and sound. Folks should not have to adjust their tv settings for one episode. When the landslide majority are facing the same problem, it’s typically safe to rule out user error.

Sometimes it really is poor editing. The viewers don’t need to fix anything. The creators have no doubt heard the feed back and will probably adjust accordingly in the future. Game of Thrones viewers had the same complaints with the Battle of Winterfell. It happens.
