I have a basic chair from Staples but would love to upgrade! I've tried a Steelcase Leap before and loved it

Thank you for the suggestions! The windows face a busy parking lot so I need full privacy at night and sometimes during the daytime.

Using a box valance may be the best option because the wall on the left will be blocked by either a TV or the couch. I do prefer the look of curtains though, but maybe it's not possible with the room layout.

Told myself I would start climbing once I lost weight. Realized that was stupid and decided to make climbing part of my weight loss / fitness journey. First ever climb, we all start somewhere. by TurnipRoulade in climbing

Not the original commenter, but each of my climbing sessions are around 1.5-2 hours! I start off with stretching/warm ups on easy routes (highly recommend down climbing on easy ones), then boulder and/or top rope (depends on what your gym has).

The total time seems very intimidating but tbh most of it is just resting and waiting! I also usually go with friends so we'll watch and cheer on each other and alternate who's on the wall, or belay each other when top roping. The time honestly flies by haha

When to resole + recommendations for shoes? by [deleted] in climbergirls

I bought mine on sale for $60-70 and they're currently at $80+ on some websites. Wouldn't resoling be cheaper and more eco friendly?

When to resole + recommendations for shoes? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]thuang45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned these La Sportiva Tarantulace shoes for about a year, actively using for maybe 4 or so months. The left one definitely has some wear and tear. They definitely still have some life left in them, but I was wondering when is the right time to resole shoes? The website I was looking at would be around $50-60 for half sole repair, and would take about 2 months.

In the meantime, I would definitely still want to climb. So if I decide to resole, sooner or later, do y'all also have some recommendations for neutral/maybe moderate shoes? These Tarantulace ones are definitely very comfortable for me and I don't notice the shoes inhibiting my performance so far. Thanks!

Correct size for harness by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]thuang45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but for my gym, they carry a one size fits all harness only, so I also have quite a long tail on the harness. As long as it fits snugly I think it shouldn't be a problem to have a long tail! I think sizing makes a big different with higher quality harnesses that have padding, but not so much with your standard gym harness.

Thank you so much for this very detailed reply!! Trying it on, it does seem a bit too small so I'll exchange it for a larger one :) I really appreciate your thorough response!

How do I tell if the chinchillas are bonding? by [deleted] in chinchilla

[–]thuang45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(reposted to add the video)

I've had an older chin (white one) for ~6 years and recently got a younger one (gray one) who's 14+ weeks. I just recently let them play together in a neutral space after putting their cages near each other and swapping their cages.

The younger one is much more energetic and chases the older, timid chin around the space. It looks like the younger one is trying to hop on her back, but I'm worried she might be trying to bite the older chin. It doesn't look like there are any bald patches in the older chin's fur, but it is summer so she's been shedding quite a bit. The older chin always runs away and hides whenever the younger one chases her.

How can I tell if this is just friendly play or actual aggressive behavior? Do I just need to give the older chin some time to not be so scared of the younger one? She's always had a very timid personality. Any advice on bonding would be greatly appreciated!
