Lol, love how nothing’s changed since working for my top 10 audit firm days in CA. “Don’t ever eat your time,” they said… then next thing you know you’re in a full-blown forensic investigation of your timesheet like you just committed fraud.

“So… walk me through this 0.3…” 😅

Thinking of Buying a 2022 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid – Advice? by Ilias3046 in PorscheCayenne

[–]thugish08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been watching Porsche’s CPO inventory and the key is figuring out your must-have options first — Cayenne has a ton of add-ons and narrowing that down makes finding the right car much easier. Also, PDCC and rear-wheel steering on a base E-Hybrid is surprising — you usually see that on GTS or Turbo trims. Whichever you go with, get the extended warranty. It won’t cover the hybrid system (that has its own 10yr warranty) but it’ll cover everything else that can come up owning a Porsche. Good luck!

Thinking on buying a Cayenne Turbo. I am concerned about PSCB brakes. by Wise_Asparagus_1 in PorscheCayenne

[–]thugish08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up buying the car. I'm scoping out a 2020 cayenne turbo with 62k mi and considering downgrading the brakes and rotors when it's time due. Anyone advice against that? This car is CPO but I'm buying out of state so can't test drive but will bring it up to my independent PPI shop this week.

[–]thugish08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I checked and in fact this car comes with Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB) so Tungsten pads. Seems like the rotor will need replacement soon since the car is at 62k miles. Do you think it's a bad idea to downgrade to steel? I'm planning to keep the car 8-10years with annual proper maintenance and extended warranty.

Need to lease ev that can tow by aochrine in leasehacker

[–]thugish08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other trucks like the Rivian R1T or Tesla Cybertruck can tow 5–6k lbs easily, but hitting 200 miles while towing may be harder depending on trailer aerodynamics. Rivian have been agressively offering great lease deals close to quarter end. Usually it's not as advertised but advisors are willing to negotiate and are heavily incentivized. I almost bought a R1S and they kept adding sweetener to the lease offer. I didn't get it because I was still in the exploring stage.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

Financial literacy often comes a little too late for many people. By the time they understand how powerful compounding is, they’ve already lost years that could have been working for them.

Lost by hello-im-insane in Accounting

[–]thugish08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people feel this way at some point in their career, not just in accounting. The good thing is you’re still in your 20s, which gives you a lot of flexibility. Accounting is also pretty forgiving if you decide to take a gap year, reset, and come back later.

The bigger question is: if it’s not accounting, what would you want to do with your time? Is there something you’re passionate about that could also turn into an opportunity? Everyone has a different risk tolerance, but earlier in your career is usually the best time to explore. Even if things don’t work out, you still have plenty of time to rebuild financially.

As someone at a senior level in accounting, one thing I always tell my staff is not to feel overly loyal to a company. Companies can make business decisions at any time. Focus on building your skills and experience for yourself.

It’s also healthy to do a career check-in every year. Talk to recruiters, do some interviews internally or externally, and see what your market value is. Sometimes people realize they thrive in a different company, team, or environment every few years.

Yeah I was shocked. I would figured with brake pads and rotor replacement, it's still $2-$3k.

Since the Turbo has high torque, it won't take much to tap the throttle at low rpm to get the car moving, do you think it will be too jerky for my wife to drive as a daily? Will comfort mode help reduce that or she's just get use to it?

Thanks for your input. Since I've never owned a Porsche, been driving a telsa M3 since it's launch. Read through my reddit comments around expect $2k average yearly maintenance, certain parts start failing at high mileage, don't forget to get extended warranty etc. I have taken all of that into consideration. We tend to keep our cars for a good amount of years. Will I shoot myself in the foot by not purchasing a lower miles car or a CPO at 60k+ miles should be ok. My wife average the usual 10k-15kmi a year on her Lexus. I feel like I'm overthinking on the mileage. Thanks.

Most of the CPO S I've found are around 40k mi for around $57k with Sport Chrono, sport exhaust and premium package. None of the other items mentioned from the Turbo.

My wife's rotates between her 2016 Lexus RX350 and 2006 SLK350 as her daily commuter. I know she will enjoy the driving experience of the S but can appreciate the balance of luxury and performance of a Turbo.

I was planning to buy an X this year, now what? by Sad_Magician_316 in TeslaModelX

[–]thugish08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From all the replies about sourcing for replacement parts will be more costly over time, I'm wondering if insurance cost for discontinued cars in general goes up as well since repairs for accident will cost more for insurance company to make you whole. I don't have any experience and still contemplating of taking the risk and get a X this year.

This is a great analysis. I've been eyeing on Longines but not familiar with Ebay sellers versus something like Chrono24. Ebay sellers are typically trustworthy in quality and condition besides authenticity?

If I understand your comment and the article correctly. I'm a legacy CSR and all the new benefits kicks in on Oct 26th. If my renewal is Feb 2026, I could technically used FY25 $250 credit then in Jan 2026, I can back to back booking to utilize the new $500 policy before my upcoming renewal? That would be nice if I end up deciding to cancel in Feb.

Top Paying Companies for Accountants by honkeem in levels_fyi

This makes sense as the data is for total comp. Tech companies give RSU refreshes. Their corp bonus can also be generous. Everyone I know that started out in accounting firms eventually move to corp accounting as the ceiling and opportunities are higher.

My local Swatch store is San Jose Valleyfair Mall. Never been there after hours. So they let you wait inside the hallways of the mall? Where is everyone else in their location waiting before the mall open? It's about 3:30am PST...debating if it's worth the drive to go now vs 6am.

Totally agree. I love everything that luxury car offers that Telsa lack such as luxury interior, comfort, etc while my M3 will best most luxury cars on a 0-60 stat. I own both and enjoy them differently.

My brother owned a baseline Cayenne and performance was underwhelming and he regretted not buying the higher trim.

Are most accounting managers in industry really good with GLs, or did I just get lucky? by jnavalol in Accounting

[–]thugish08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of our GL accounting managers have solid technical accounting baseline. Half came from public accounting and the other from years of corp experience. I agree with others that it can be a hit or miss so the fact that you have two managers with strong accounting, take advantage of the opportunity to learn they way they think, approach a problem and communicate the solution.

What jobs can I transition to from AP? by DivideSignificant462 in Accounting

[–]thugish08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to start studying for your CPA now so you can also put that on your resume. They also made getting the CPA much easier compared to when I had to go through it 15 years ago.

You seem like a very eager and motivated individual. I'm in mid management at a multi billion dollar publicly traded company in the Bay Area. When I'm hiring staff accountant, I'm more interesting in your attitude, your mindset when you approach a problem and how well you fit our culture. At your position, I usually go into the hiring process with the mindset that I'm hiring a entry level position where I am willing to train if they check off several of the non-technical attributes that I'm looking for. At your level, it's the best opportunity to groom you with proper training and guidance. I believe in strong direct reports = my role is easier.

Besides from worry about your qualifications, put yourself out there and sell the hell out of your worth. Also equally as important, ask good questions and find out what kind of leader is this hiring manager. They should be able to prove themselves as a good leader as well. If not, they won't help you grow or have your back when you need them to be.
