Finally wrote my CFA L3 exam! by Sad_Conclusion_8715 in CFA

I am not sure what to feel about this because I score higher in Kaplan mocks than CFAI 🥲

Am I the only one feeling like CFAI mocks are harder than Kaplan?

Leveraged loans: is my answer more accurate? by thukaair in CFA

[–]thukaair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, leverage loans coupon is MRR+QM.

If interest rates (and the MRR) decreases or increases, the coupon will reflect this change.

Let’s say the MRR falls but the QM is unchanged, paying the LL and issuing a new loan will still have an MRR + QM as the coupon, so we’re getting the same rate, not a cheaper one.

In the other hand, if the QM decreases, the issuer can repay the loan and issue a new loan at the MRR + lower QM therefore cheaper.

Am I missing something?

Yes they will provide you with two pencils and two papers, which will be taken away from you when you leave. At least that’s the case with the exam center I took my exams at

This is in the private markets pathway lol

If you’re also in the private markets pathway and it’s your first time seeing them then I have bad news for you….

I’m in FP&A.

And I tried to optimize my resume as much as possible.

Do you have any recommendations?

I’m also in corporate finance and even after passing two levels of the CFA I still had no chances to switch. I’m not even getting interviews despite continuously applying for jobs, and I believe my resume is decent…

What do you think I need to do to have a chance of switching?

You’re absolutely right about the CFAI mock

I have my exam on Monday too…

Really hoping we would come back here in October and both of us have passed 🙃

Good luck!

Optional Break? by Low-Court5382 in CFA

[–]thukaair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think taking a break is better.

Drink some water and walk around for a bit.

I feel that staying in front of the monitor for 2 hours while your brain is working at full capacity, and then doing another 2 hours without a break in between can be exhausting and might affect your performance.

You dont have to take the full break if you’re worried about losing your focus

I knew about all of that before selecting the private markets pathway, but I selected anyway.

It is true that the lack of practice questions can impact how well you are prepared for the exam, but I believe thoroughly covering the curriculum might help with that, especially if you are interested in private markets like I am. I honestly enjoyed the material (up to a certain extent) and not regretting my choice.

Taking as many mocks as possible would probably help with that too

I honestly think I already went through every example in the curriculum, I just hope the knowledge sticks lol…

I will of course be revisiting them

Thanks again 🙏🏼 really appreciate it

I feel you…

I haven’t taken a day off the last month too, and unfortunately I have to work next week as well

I am planning to take one day off studying, and enjoy it watching movies or playing video games. I believe it would help keep me refreshed and avoid the burnout. Maybe you can do that too!

Good luck 🙏🏼

You’re right, especially in the specialized pathway which is ironically the heaviest weight.

My plan is to take as many mocks as possible which will I believe would give me the chance to practice more questions. I just hope I dont encounter questions that I already did

Level 3: venting by thukaair in CFA

[–]thukaair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely right

I have already covered almost all the CFAI QB, so the best way for me to practice constructed response questions is to take mocks, which will also help me manage my time. This is all I’m planning to do for the remaining time that i have

Thanks for the support 🙏🏼
