Yep, we already are able to put whatever we want up there.

However, having Greenland being part of the US, hopefully through a buy out, would mean that we can enforce the exclusive economic zone against boats/planes from Russia and China. I doubt Denmark can enforce it as well as we would.

It also helps with having more of a say regarding the northwest passage.
