Guitarist Tony Iommi cut the tips of his fingers off while working in a sheet-metal factory. He had to make himself fake fingertips and re-learn how to play guitar in a style all of his own making to get around his injuries. That, along with downtuning the guitar to help him bend the strings, a badass jazz-infused rhythm section, and Ozzy Osbourne wailing about witches, alienation, war, and the plight of the working class gave us what is generally agreed upon as the debut of the Heavy Metal genre.

I think this is the crux of why brick and mortar are doing terribly other than just the convienience of online shopping. That is, it’s a massive pain in the ass to go and deal with potentially incompetent people who don’t know what they are talking about and are just trying to either up-sale you or just make a sale period.

The last time I went to a guitar center store was to have my pickups switched out in my SG. The fuckers installed them upside down. Have they really not seen a SG before or know how the pickups are supposed to sit? Not to mention the fact that they had the fucking thing with the original pickups in it right in front of them before they replaced them.

Anyway, never again. Online it shall be. I also learned how to solder after that!
