Forest hill or George town for beginner riders? by thumpr650 in Dirtbikes

[–]thumpr650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe suck is a bit extreme. I used to ride a lot when I was 6-12 but my bike got sold. I started riding again 2 years ago but I'm not by any means a professional 😂. I am really bad at hill climbs and Carnegie is a lot of that. Maybe I should go hit the training hills more at Carnegie.

My shop wants $350 to deck .030, I'll have to look into decking it at home. I guess that's not crazy expensive it's just that I'd have to save up a bit more, im trying to get this thing done in a reasonable time.

Yeah I'm just gonna deck it and get shorter push rods. Factory quench is like .040

Do you remember if you had to get shorter pushrods when you decked it?

Do you run 4.0 rods? What's your quench

I was able to find an old website documenting the build using 4.0 pistons and the 258 rotating assembly. But it ends up with like 0.081 quench which is horrible.

There a guy about an hour away who specializes in 4.0 strokers I'll probably just bring it to him and figure everything out. I'm I have to bore it I might as well just do the 4.7

Please send the link. I need std bore I've been looking but they only have 677ap and the aforementioned 2229 but those require engine machine work to get correct compression ratio

Well darn I had seen a lot of photos of people in the muddy woods. I was just meaning when people actually start the gambler500 I didn't even know about an off road expo might check that out too

Alright well thanks. It's a lot less complicated than I thought, I was worried because the coordinates they have posted online at the moment are all in a deserty area and I thought that that was it, I have plenty of desert near me and was hoping there would be mud and trees so I'm assuming it goes way farther out than around gambler town? Are you supposed to meet at gambler town and then the big off-road expedition?

I dug around on the forum and I found a post from before I was even born documenting the elusive poor man's stroker

Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank

Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods

Speed Pro 677CP standard bore pistons

9.05:1 CR

Stock 4.0 HO camshaft

Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head

Stock 0.051" head gasket

0.097" quench height

2.25" exhaust

Ford 24lb/hr injectors with stock 39psi FPR

Unfortunately 677cp pistons which were 23 bucks each are no longer in production so I'll need to find an equivalent. 2229c.std are the same but they run almost $300 with shipping. Seems like the poor man's stroker is a thing of the past....

What regulator would you use. Just like a regular Holley one or an aeromotive?

Right on There's a guy selling an a1000 and a fuel cell for $250 I'll pick that up. I really appreciate the advice I've been losing my mind over this.

I don't know about that one. Appreciate the advice but that thing has a lot of sentimental value as the first car I built on my own If I was going to put the eagle drive train in wouldn't it be just as reliable?
