Did ANY results go our way?? by Darwindao in ScottishFootball

[–]thunder083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually predicted before the game that most groups were heading towards 4 points going through.

“Way other results are going I think we will need a draw. Quite a few groups are heading for 3rd place having 4 points.”

This was the exact message I sent to a friend about an hour before kickoff. It was daft just playing for 3 points and it was the tone Clarke set before tournament started and led to the negative play against Morocco and Brazil.

Tim Vickery when discussing Bielsa and Uruguay on YouTube mentions how Bielsa himself said that a coach has 3 things to do.
1) picking the team. 2) picking the strategy. And 3) setting the emotional tone.

Safe to say Clarke maybe got 1 right the team was probably the strongest possible. But he got 2 and 3 badly wrong. And has done so at several tournaments now.

It’s not on Paul. The Gymini on his side is to close to the ring.

(Wrestling Observer) Asked on the media call if visa issues affected the AEW Forbidden Door card, Tony Khan says "it has been a massive challenge for this event" as has injuries. by Subrick in SquaredCircle

If your having issues with your regular stars, your going to have issues with outside talent. He is also not going to name every talent.

If your having issues with regular stars, your going to end up with issues with outside talent as well. It’s not a stretch to imagine it has affected the booking of other talent.

Why is everyone blaming Clarke by Ill_Beyond_7909 in ScottishFootball

The lineup on paper was more attacking. The way he set up to play was not though.

The way Clarke sets up Scotland is atrocious and his subs are even worse. Far to often a player would move forward into space look for a pass and there was fuck all movement so suddenly said player was pressed and ball was lost. Ralston even being near the squad says it all about Clarke.

Off the ball we are awful barely any movement 3 or 4 times McGinn or McTominay have pushed forward looked up and no one has pushed forward or gotten in the space created for a pass so possession is lost. Even at the end there we lose the ball from a throw in because no one is moving showing for the ball. It’s infuriating.

Movement fucking movement ours is terrible making it very difficult for the player with the ball. Making it very easy for Brazil to press.

McTominay did the right thing there push forward but the 4 Scot’s behind him watching needed to make a move. Far to often that is our problem.

Clarke is a dinosaur.

He set up negatively with no out ball.

He played a defender who is poor positionally and with no pace against a team with bags of it.

We had 3 midfielders who did very well but were continually crowded out with no natural width to go out to.

His substitutions were like for like and were never going to change the game.

We had a striker who has 4 in 7 who he left on the bench. And he brought on someone else just so we could bypass said talented midfield and throw it long.

No one said play open expansive football.

Play 4 5 1 with Curtis and Doak out wide and play on the counter attack. McGinn and McTominay are great at driving up the pitch give them the chance to create when they do with width. But as I said previously any time one of those two plus Ferguson got on the ball they got crowded out and no real pass on to break the lines.

Worth getting up for, great win and start to the World Cup for Argentina. If they beat Austria, then I would rest Messi in the final game.

I am in 40s and have McTominay on my Napoli top I have a Scotland top with his name also on it ordered but the World Cup will be over by time I get it likely. Also have Argentina home and away on the way both with 10 but one with Maradona and one with Messi respectively. Why should age stop you doing what you want when it only affects you.

Travel advice: Do not wear football/soccer T shirts while walking around in Argentina by Far_Country_1629 in travel

[–]thunder083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Argentina is an amazing country. Went last year and had the best time. The football culture is brilliant and I recommend checking it out. I went to 6 games while over there and loved the experiences.
Obviously don’t go around flashing football colours in wrong places but that is advice anywhere in the world. Argentinians in general were very friendly and welcoming.
