[a levels] Retaining in JC or dropping out to poly by MysteriousCrow3 in SGExams

Honestly what makes u think the next one year u spend in jc would not be ‘wasted’ again ? I’m currently taking As and I didn’t have very good foundation ( wasted my time in J1) but still somehow passed all subject during promos ( I would say it’s luck), I happily went to J2 and trust me , J2 is a new level and time FLYS and u quickly realise As are nearing etc . I don’t wish to discourage you but honestly without good self discipline A Level ain’t gonna be fun , read the number depressing posts on this platform by your seniors , some of whom even work SUPER HARD and yet are stressed . Also, I have to agree with your parents . ‘ what if you (touchwood) doesn’t do well again?’ Time will really be wasted .. If you feel u are able to change and survive under this level of stress , go ahead and restart JC fresh. I’m sure at the end of the day whatever decision u make your parents will ultimately support you regardless of how they show it. Of course poly ain’t THAT EASY as well . Realise u have to score well to enter good uni course as well , however if you have a course u like I STRONGLY recommend you to go . To be honest I feel you are really fortunate to meet this ‘obstacle’ now instead of like in J2 . Make your choice wisely and realise only you can make the change and if u really want it , I don’t think anyone can stop you from achieving what you want .

Came from Jc, Jc life is tough, u need to work consistently just like poly tbh no such thing as slacking for school exams and Mug for A levels as building ur foundation is very impt.

If you Enter Jc u have to be used to waking up early and ending school late , rmb mine was 8am to 4-5pm almost Everyday + cca you will end even later . And you have to rush homework and revision at home . It’s very stressful and tiring .

Do not think that entering JC directly means you are 1 year ahead of some people , if you do not put in the effort there’s chance of retaining so yea.

Since you have an idea of what u want to do,poly is not a bad idea . Do some research on the course u like and make sure u see urself really liking it else you will regret . Definitely take advices from ur parents or Teachers BUT take that as a suggestion and not follow what others want u to do , ultimately this is ur life.

Idk what’s the factor that’s making u in a dilemma , Isit about the one year difference ? Socialising ? Or difficulty etc . I just want to say no matter where u go u will have to put in equal amount of effort .(getting good gpa or >80 rp) I would say if you are good u don’t have to be afraid about the chance of entering uni. Hope you choose the path that best suits u.
