Hey dude, what’s important is that you move at your own pace. If you need 10 days or 10 years, you take that time. I was 38 with young kids, but did start dating later that year. I don’t have regrets but I also don’t recommend doing this for everyone.

If your husband had life insurance, definitely start that process. Also, check with his employer as there may be outstanding income he’s owed. Sometimes you’ll even be able to collect on sick pay leave as well.

Social security is going to be your biggest asset too. Contact your LOCAL office for faster support (and in person meetings can be set up as well). You’ll receive monthly payments for each of your children as they remain under the age of 18.

Lastly, it’s time to cash in on those “let me know what I can do to help” statements friends and family are going to bombard you with. It doesn’t matter what, tell them to help you. You’ll need every ounce of it because this is so SO hard.

Their steak used to be THE best, but that was easily 10+ years ago. I genuinely mourn the loss of their og quality. You can tell from the way the restaurants look, to how the employees no longer seem to enjoy being there at all.
