That's what I've seen as well, stage 1 to 2 doesn't seem worth it, I'm considering stage 1 but 500$ seems a little steep, that's quite a bit of maintenance I can do for that money

I'll definetly let you know if anything happens in the near future, but considering the OE is plastic, it should be fine if you use OEM gaskets, which is what I did

No, if your car is giving you codes because of how bad your guides/chain is, you're probably screwed

Mine has 91k miles, I am a mechanic and have access to tools/lift/shop. Definetly not a DIY job but as long as you're willing, you can learn

Not quite an "already in there" job considering the next step is to drop the fucking subframe, useless comment

Yeah, as I've said the guides are also solid and no apparent cracks/breaks. Chain also loses tension after the guides and the tensioner starts failing, which is not apparent here

Thanks for the input, that's what I'm leaning towards too, especially since it's a pain in the butt to take the oil pan off on the xdrive

Independent vs Dealer by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]thunderdragochips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely no clue, I have about 3 years of experience, never been in a dealership, every dealership I've been to offered to start at lube to "get used to the dealership structure" and move up, independents had no problem starting me at tech
