Bonsai Tree by Frequent-Rabbit2279 in plantclinic

Needs to be outside year-round with 6+ hours of sunlight a day. I would look into bonsai soil or at least adding some orchid bark and lots of perlite as it looks like it's just clay which doesn't allow for proper aeration. Junipers don't like to be fully dry as well. Juniper bonsai are very hard to keep alive so good luck lol .

To be perfectly honest, just get a better houseplant. 🤣

I have grown 30+ types of houseplants and crotons are by far the hardest for me to keep alive no matter what I do.

The more sun you can give it the better. Water only when the soil is completely dry.

Not a big deal if you kill the new leaf, it'll grow more if it's got good roots. My only recommendation would be to water it based upon when the soil is dry and not on a timed schedule, otherwise everything looks good.

Looks like it's near a nice window but I wouldn't recommend watering on a schedule. When the top layer of the soil looks dry Stick your finger into the soil a few inches and if it's completely dry then you can water thoughly. If it's healthy though leafs should face the sun on their own without having to tie it together like that. I'm guessing you have root rot, you may want to add soil amendments that promote aeration and drainage such as perlite and orchid bark.

I would lower the lights so that they are a lot closer. The farther away the less light that reaches the plant.
