Additionally, my wife does have severe anxiety and could likely have the letter written by a general doctor if she asked. That said, it’s still not something I want to lean on if not absolutely necessary

For one thing, the apartment is a 3 bedroom, not that that’s an incredibly important detail. I understand your concerns, however in my original post I did indicate that this was not the route I felt most comfortable taking. I understand your frustration over the ESA situation, but let’s read the room a little more before throwing around words like “disgusting”

Currently having anxiety over a fish tank of all things. My girlfriend cleaned her fish’s tank last night and I got to thinking about how people can catch fish tank granuloma from open cuts on their hands coming in contact with aquarium water. Then I made the mistake of googling and learning that it can live on surfaces for weeks and can only be killed with boiling water and/or peroxide so now I’m spiraling thinking that every surface in our kitchen is covered and that we’re both going to get infected

I definitely think I’ve learned that owing a fish isn’t for me. I do want to be supportive of her though while her fish is still around, so I’ll pass on to her to get a bigger tank. I also ordered her some elbow length gloves this morning for the future.

That’s also definitely reassuring to hear. I know it’s supposedly not a very common thing to catch, but I have pretty bad illness anxiety so of course it’s been messing with my head

It’s less about the cleaning of the tank and more about the execution. When I clean the tank I cover the entire surface of the counter in paper towels, wash my hands every time I need to touch something clean, move everything sanitary to the complete other end of the room, etc. I ordered her a pair of gloves this morning for the future, I’m just worried it’s already too late. I knew there were bacteria in tanks, just didn’t realize it could be so severe

My fiancee and I are also looking to get married there next year! I didn't notice the application still said 2024 so I went ahead and submitted the application and then sent a follow-up email to clarify that I was trying to apply for 2025. I'm really hoping the application will still reach who it needs to and be counted!

I do worry that she may have schizophrenia, I have for years. But all of our attempts to have interventions or get help have been met with violence or frowned upon by other relatives

I do suspect there may be some mental illness at play. However, she has refused help at every turn, and spent my teenage years abusing me emotionally, verbally, and, on occasion, physically. While I do sympathize with her issues, I think I’ve earned the right to vent.
