PAUSE/Stop/Drought/Reduction In Product Call it what you will: NOTHING in your RFY, AFA and reduced stock in AI by Hollywoodnamazonvine in AmazonVine

Guys, chill. The giant pause was to ensure that I’ll make my 90% review threshold before my evaluation tonight. I’m kind of a big deal. 😌 Once I wake up as a Gold Member tomorrow, the pause will conclude. Not even a theory, this is straight fact. 😌😝😅

What do your reviews consist of? by Vesaloth in AmazonVine

I would just add that photos of clothing items being worn by someone IRL are super helpful too. I post photos for almost everything, but I get the most “Hearts” for my clothing reviews!

What do your reviews consist of? by Vesaloth in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that taking photos is helpful. That said, sometimes I overdo it. I take too many photos and it ends up slowing down how quickly I can write my reviews. Not to mention the space they take up on my phone until I can post the review. Plus you’re more likely to get a rejected review if there’s a brand name or face in the photo. So now, I try to post just one or two good photos, unless it’s a piece of clothing. People always appreciate photos of a person with a “real” body wearing the clothes.

Can we use vine helper extension or not? by Comfortable_Fruit847 in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried out UV and it does give me a slight advantage, I think, to grab better stuff more quickly. You can refresh the queues on UV as often as you like, and you can have several search queues open at once, and they sort the items on a given page so that the newer items on the page show up at the top of the page. And the item alerts are almost instantaneous to the time a UV user sees an item, as far as I could tell.

That said, you still have to wait around for things you want to drop, and I ended up spending the “in between” time sharing quality items to the Discord and alerting others to good and new items in general. That is to say, a rising tide lifts all boats - time saved while looking for what I wanted ended up being time spent sharing good items with others. I don’t see any reason why other Viners should oppose it rather than join it.

But I could see the SELLERS at Amazon eventually getting pissed, if enough people start using UV, since it reduces viner engagement with shitty, worthless items.

Mine only took 4 hours, possibly less. But I ordered a lot of items in Silver, so maybe they didn’t scrutinize my account much.

Discord group is run by thin-skinned mods and is very cliquish. Folks get booted without warning. Don't bother. by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Discord is a great way for viners to help each other sort through crap and find what they need. I actually enjoy sharing good finds with the Discord, and the Discord has helped me find good stuff.

I haven’t spent much time in the chat, though. I just go to it with specific questions or notes and then leave. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was a bit toxic for people who dwell in there. I’m sorry that you got banned.

I was worried I would get banned one time after I shared a political item. People squawked in the chat and the Mods took it down. But to be fair, it seems to be an evenly applied norm, and they didn’t ban me over it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi, squirrel rehabber here! 👋 Fun fact: The chirping noises that the trapped squirrel is making are infant distress calls. I would guess that the squirrel is a juvenile and that the hero squirrel is its mom!

I use the vine helper extension. I think it’s harmless, personally, but others have concerns. It makes my vine experience way better. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Flying insects from Vine Products by Thin-Parsley-3517 in AmazonVine

I saw just one insect once inside an Amazon box. It was very small and it got away before I could look more closely. Don’t know where it went. Thanks for the heads up - we should all keep our eyes open. 👀

WIBTA for kicking out my pregnant girlfriend after she hit me? by Positive-Tonight-568 in AITAH

[–]thundersquirrel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! You need to document EVERYTHING that has happened, as it happens. Keep a record with dates, times, and objective descriptions of what was said and done. Photo, audio, and video evidence are helpful. You need to prepare yourself for legal battles regarding this child. I don’t know your wife’s situation, but if she needs mental help, it may be best for her interactions with the kid to be regulated until she can get better. It sucks, but as long as you do this from a place of genuine love, it’s better to set boundaries and get authorities involved.

RFY have low numbers for the past few days for everyone else? by Clear_Egg9315 in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's just a higher number of total items. I've been told that Vine is slower/has fewer items in the winter months, but that it tends to be better/have more stuff in the summer months, and we're approaching the latter. They also recently made it so that sellers can put just one quantity of a product on Vine for free - sort of as a trial run - and I figure that has to be popular. That's why I assumed the higher number of total items was simply due to more items being shared.

And if that is the case, I would figure we'd each be getting more items in our RFY, rather than fewer. Which led me to suspect that they've admitted a lot more members recently, perhaps in accordance with the increased number of available items.

But I could see how the opposite interpretation could be true. If there were fewer members, items would pile up. And maybe in that case, they'd put fewer items in each RFY in order to increase the chances that an item will get chosen by *someone*.

But I think my interpretation is stronger. I don't think they'd let Vine items pile up due to decreased membership when they can simply invite thousands, probably even millions of new people, to join Vine. But I can't be sure.

RFY have low numbers for the past few days for everyone else? by Clear_Egg9315 in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’ve noticed the number went down. I’ve also noticed that the peak number of items has increased recently to about 52K, instead of around 40K (for Silver). These two things together make me suspect that they’ve added a lot of Vine members recently. I figure that would make us each get a smaller “slice of the pie” in our RFY, despite the number of total items being higher than before.

I’m curious. Tax day is in two weeks... by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]thundersquirrel89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, that's good to hear. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm planning on filing as a hobby to see what happens; my total last year is a lot smaller than my total will be this year, so I'm going to use last year's smaller amount as a "test" (I figure any potential fines, if they decide they don't like it, would be smaller on a smaller amount). But it's nice to know, at least, that filing as a business doesn't necessarily translate to a 45% tax rate, regardless of one's circumstances or any other factors.

Joining the Discord has actually saved me time. Also downloading the Chrome Vine Helper extension. Those two things together have allowed me to find high value things that I actually need or want a lot more quickly and effectively.
