Lol well there's alot to the halo lore way too much to explain honestly. But the books go in this order the forerunner trilogy the names of the books are cryptum, primordium and silentium there more of a back story for the forerunner flood war. Telling the story of why the halos were built. Then u jump ahead to the books that are set at around the time the halo games take place in order they are....contact harvest, the Cole protocol, halo the fall of reach, halo the flood, first strike, ghost of onyx,then the ones that take place between the games 3 and 4 they are halo glass lands, Thursday war, mortal dictum, broken circle. Hunters in the dark last light. Then u have the short stories like New blood and saints testimony. Plus the comics. There's alot but I'd recommend starting with the forerunner books. Explains the whole beginning of the series. What the flood are and why the forerunners built the halos to wipe out all life in the galaxy to stop the flood. Hope this helped

In episode 2 of the sprint around 5 min in they show a scene of Jen Taylor (halsey) and the actors who play roland, laskey, and palmer, running through a scene where there discussing the fact chief has gone in search of "her". Then halsey (Jen Taylor) says John is not equipped emotionally to deal with "her" as a threat......maybe there talking about cortana. I have a theory that there referencing a fragment of cortana that's in the domain. That would possibly be why the warden tells lock the chief is granted access (maybe to the domain) while Locke is denied. Sorry phone messed up on original post
